Two track packs are currently free on Xbox, go "buy" them now before it's fixed. I have no idea if entitlements are working for these two packs though, I've bought them and I'll check if they're ready to download when I get home tonight.

Metal track pack: https://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/game ... D3rs-mAQTs

Country track pack: https://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/game ... OjmgyC7ho0

ROCK BAND 4 AND NEXT-GEN CONSOLES
We’ve got some good news to share, news that you’ve been patiently waiting a while to hear. You may have heard that some new consoles are coming out this November, about a month from now in fact, and with them comes some new backwards compatibility features. To get right to the point:

Rock Band 4 and all DLC will work on the next generation consoles day 1. We believe previously supported instruments should work as expected. See below for a full list of what was tested.

Let’s get into the nitty-gritty.

Our team has been diligently testing a bunch of old gear on the new systems to make sure everything works exactly as it does today. When you break open those crisp new consoles, you should be able to connect your existing, compatible peripherals and play Rock Band 4 right out of the box.

What about my E-Kit and Adapters?

We have also confirmed that all those various adapters on the Xbox side work, so current e-kit drummers and Legacy Wireless players should all be set day 1.

Will all of my DLC and save data transition over?

All DLC currently available for download will also work on new consoles. No messy generation transition this time, it’s the same DLC!

Save data can transfer over on both consoles. If you're playing on Xbox and have saved on the cloud recently, it'll do so automatically! On PlayStation®, you can use a few methods, like cloud saves for PlayStation Plus members, or hard drive transfers, to get the data from your current console to your new one.

Let me hear about those sweet, sweet load times.

You'll notice a pretty sizable performance increase on both consoles, especially with load times. Getting into gameplay has never been faster, even with large library sizes! Both the new Xbox and PlayStation consoles are on par with each other when it comes to load times. Impressive across the board.

I’m getting a next-gen console, but my friend is not. Can I still play with them?

Online Multiplayer will also function across generations within their console family. So, Xbox Series X/S players will be able to play online with Xbox One players and vice versa, same on PlayStation 5 with PlayStation 4 players.

We hope to continue support for Rock Band 4 for the foreseeable future! Thank you for your continued dedication and passion to the series, we’re so happy to be able to bring you this good news ahead of this next-gen launch.

Anything else we need to know to get started?

On the PlayStation 5, there's a microphone in the controller, and the console defaults to that microphone, which Rock Band 4 recognizes. If you want to use a regular USB mic, you'll have to change that in your console settings. Also, just as a heads up, any USB mic should still work.

Also on PlayStation 5, if you're using the PlayStation 4 era instruments (Mad Catz/PDP guitars and drums), you connect them to the console the same way you did on the PlayStation 4 - via the Bluetooth accessories spot in the options menu.

For reference, here is the full list of instrument controllers we tested. This is not a comprehensive list. Generally, if it worked on Rock Band 4 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, it should work on next-gen.

  • Mad Catz RB4 Fender™ Stratocaster™ Guitar (Xbox)
  • Mad Catz RB4 Drums (Xbox)
  • PDP RB4 Fender Jaguar™ Guitar (Xbox)
  • PDP RB4 Drums (Xbox)
  • Mad Catz RB4 Fender Stratocaster Guitar (PS4)
  • Mad Catz RB4 Drums (PS4)
  • PDP RB4 Fender Jaguar Guitar (PS4)
  • PDP RB4 Drums (PS4)
  • Mad Catz RB3 Fender Stratocaster Guitar (Xbox, Mad Catz Wireless Legacy Adapter required)
  • Mad Catz The Beatles™: Rock Band Gretsch™ Duo-Jet™ Guitar (Xbox, Mad Catz Wireless Legacy Adapter required)
  • Mad Catz RB3 Drums (Xbox, Mad Catz Wireless Legacy Adapter required)
  • Mad Catz RB2 Fender Stratocaster Guitar (Xbox, Mad Catz Wireless Legacy Adapter required)
  • ION® Drum Rocker (Xbox, PDP Wired Legacy Adapter required)
  • Mad Catz RB3 Fender Stratocaster Guitar (PS3, Dongle required)
  • Mad Catz RB3 Drums (PS3, Dongle required)
  • Mad Catz RB2 Drums (PS3, Dongle required)
  • Mad Catz RB2 Fender Stratocaster Guitar (PS3, Dongle required)
  • ION Drum Rocker (PS3)
**We were not able to test peripherals from other games, but we believe previously supported instruments should work as expected.

I got that with the metal pack, then the country pack worked, then I tried that metal pack a second time and it worked. Keep trying! Xbox website is a bit weird with logging in, even though you're logged in, the pages sometimes load as not logged in until you try and click something so perhaps that's the problem we had

Yeah, I clicked on the link and then logged in and it kept taking me to an "oops that page has moved" page :slol:

Also, so glad they've said the drum rocker works on the Series X. Would be livid if I spent all that time getting the wired adapter to then not be able to use it *again*

Cool, let me know if you got the songs! I have a few from the metal pack already but I am pretty sure I have none from the country pack because... country music :dread:

Here are the tracklists. If you have any of these in your ready to install then it worked

Country: https://rockband.fandom.com/wiki/Rock_B ... Track_Pack
Metal: https://rockband.fandom.com/wiki/Rock_B ... Track_Pack

How much did the adapter cost? I got one for the smoke machine but it doesn't look like they are ever going to patch support for that now :(

Just checked my Ready to Install section (on the actual Rock Band 4 "manage game" page), and I've got so much DLC that wasn't installed!

So I *think* those two track packs are installing. Can't believe you're not into country music, though :(

:datass:

The adapter was... I think about £40. I had a bit of an argue with Harmonix to actually get one, though, and they ended up sending me one just to shut me up, so I've got a backup in case one ever breaks.

EDIT: woah these are track packs like the AC/DC track pack was? It's like 20-odd songs each! I was expecting maybe three tunes I'd never heard of.

Yeh not really a fan, I've probably double my country music with this pack :slol: the others are from the disc exports, and then there's Shania Twain I Feel Like A Woman

Is that the PDP wired adaptor dongle thing?

You got a good deal there! They eBay for about £400! I sold my spare one (I had two) about a year ago because I didn't see the point having a spare for the smoke machine when it wasn't even supported still.

Also if you are playing again and want to join a Rivals crew that doesn't achieve much, Bant of Brothers is still touring and has space.

What the strawberry float do they really :o

Somehow didn't notice this reply back in October! Sorry :slol:

Discovered today that you can minimise Rock Band mid-setlist on the Series X and Quick Resume works from where you left it! Would be great if there was still an Endless Setlist  Just chip away at it every day or so.

I actually ended up selling mine for £699 Buy It Now two weeks ago :shifty: I bought it for the smoke machine and lights and while the controller part works on the Xbox, Harmonix have never been patched in the light and smoke functionality so I thought I'd chuck it up on eBay on the off chance someone would buy it for that price...

I spent the money on Philips Hue products instead so now I get coloured light sync with my TV :datass:

Rock Band works really well on the New Xboxs! I've played it on the S and X now and it's great, especially the load times! The song starts almost as soon as you select it from the song list  I guess it wasn't that long to load on previous consoles but it's still really nice.

There's going to be an "update" next year but there's no information on what it entails. It could range from a few clothing items and free songs, to next gen optimisation.

And the DLC the past few weeks has been top tier. I've bought about 7-8 new songs in the last few months which I haven't done for a long while

"A Little Bit Off" - Five Finger Death Punch
"The Devil Went Down to Georgia" - Nickelback ft. Dave Martone
"City of Angels" - 24KGoldn
"Spin" - We The Kings
"Caution" - The Killers
"White Knuckles" - OK Go
"Alive With The Glory of Love" - Say Anything
"Cute Without the 'E' (Cut From the Team)" - Taking Back Sunday
"Shot in the Dark" - AC/DC
"Death by Rock and Roll" - The Pretty Reckless
"Rollin' (Air Raid Vehicle)" - Limp Bizkit
"Come & Go" - Juice WRLD & Marshmallo
"Rebel Rebel" - David Bowie
"My Way Soon" - Greta Van Fleet

They’ve managed to grab a couple of big names. I broke the 1,000 song barrier, finally, with a Pink DLC pack for last week’s challenge and Cute Without the E.

I’ve been playing Hard mode, you guys. I mean, Hard bass like, but it’s a start. I’m 4 or 5-starring most things on 3 ranked difficulty and below, I can’t believe it! Flea better watch himself 8-)

Congrats buff! The sense of progression in this game is the most rewarding of any game I've ever played I think. Hard guitar next? I struggle on hard/expert guitar and I genuinely enjoy the bass parts more so I tend to stick to that part.

£699 that's insane! I knew they were going to be rare, but *that* rare? :o I've been keeping mine because it's nice to have a spare in case the first one dies at some point but I'm so tempted to try and get it gone for that kind of money.

Also, on the subject of DLC, I'm really tempted to pick up Cute without the E. Proper teen vibes from that

You're fairly good with electronics and a soldering iron right? From what I've seen the failure for the adapter tends to be the USB cable so it's a fairly straight forward fix should your adapter ever break, so it could be worth putting yours on eBay for a high price like I did just on the off chance someone buys it.

I'm tempted to get shot of a set of instruments too. I have a 360 full band set with xbox one wireless adapter (the wireless adapter seems to sell for £120+ on its own) and the instruments will sell for a few hundred too. I'm not likely to go back to the 360 games at this point so I am really only keeping them for spares.

Just owned, not gold. I mean, I'm on 979 or something so I just have to go through the songs I've bought, but even still. Goal for next year is to expand the collection by a lot more - I suspect we'll start seeing some songs hit the end of their licensing deals again quite soon.

Yeh they seem to get delisted quarterly but I'm not sure there's been any for a while except for the Rock Band 3 export (I think that's still live on Xbox even though it shouldn't be)

It's been 5 years since Rock Band 4 was released so it'll be any of that era now and the RB1/2 era that survived their first 5 year deal and are now approaching the 10th year.

One day...one day.
I had a go at hard guitar and it was a bit of a state. Practice is the way of the walk, fingers crossed.
