Rations for surviving the holocaust

Gold. Whoever has the gold has the power.

Your favorite RTS platform

PC. Just dosent work on a pad.

Most treasured RTS

Red Alert 2. Total Annihalation a very close second

Hopes and dreams for the future of the genre

Red Alert 3. havent liked anything since RA2.

Best weapon for destroying the RTS hating infidels

A giant nuke.

Ive yet to truly love a 3D RTS, I like mine old school, 2D style. This is why Im a little apprenhensive about RA3. Im really hoping it changes my mind about 3D. Tried Supreme Commander and all I could think was "Its no Total Annihalation", Im hoping something similar dosent happen to RA3.

Rations for surviving the holocaust

A fully filled armoury, then I can steal everyone else's rations.

Your favorite RTS platform

PC. You need a mouse/keyboard combo

Most treasured RTS

Age of Empires II: Conquerors. I have yet to find one that will top this, but Battle for Middle Earth and Red Alert/Generals have come close.

Hopes and dreams for the future of the genre

Was Red Alert 3, but the Beta has pushed me away from it. Seems more C&C than Red Alert.

Best weapon for destroying the RTS hating infidels

I prefer an Army of the Dead.

Rations for surviving the holocaust
A relic, for my constant trickle of gold

Your favorite RTS platform
PC, never played an RTS on anything else!

Most treasured RTS
Age of Empires 1, 2 and Age of Mythology. Dawn of War is great, but I'm crap at it, and the same goes to Warhammer: Mark of Chaos.
I also have a soft spot for Jurrasic Park Operation Genesis
Edit: Also Pharoah and Caesar III.

Hopes and dreams for the future of the genre
A new Age of Empires game that's better than AoE3. Because that was a bit rubbish :(

Best weapon for destroying the RTS hating infidels
I'll just wall myself in with bombard towers! They can come to me!

I feel a little bit responsible for this thread, but I just wanted to say what an ace game Total Annihalation was. I especially loved the post game support it had, with all the map packs and downloadable units (bear in mind this is at least 10 years old) Good times, good times. Only down side was the rather poor ending in the single player mode.

It was out before the incident which prevents me from joining your merry gang.

Fair enough, I'll have a Paladin to run around the outskirts.

Or maybe I will just rock on!

We need Red Alert 3 games, that's what 8-)

I can't play with randomers now, too frustrating, especially in a beta.

strawberry floating boats with long range that can attack my mines and stop me building a dock :x

Learn to counter attack. If you counter rush them, they won't get to the point of being able to do that. You need to go learn yourself up on some tactics.

Herbi, go here to download it.

First one, click the link and it will download the installer.

Seriously though I'm sure it will be great.

Get out.

Then come back in again, because I want to play some TA! TA and Supreme Commander are the only two RTS games I've ever enjoyed playing for any real length of time.

Herbi should be kicked out of the bunker for not knowing about TA!

  • Rations for surviving the holocaust
Ammunition - To keep the bad guys at bay. Run out of Ammo and you're strawberry floated.
If you run out of food, you can eat the ammo.

  • Your favorite RTS platform
PC - How can anyone say different?!

  • Most treasured RTS
    Company of Heroes

  • Hopes and dreams for the future of the genre
A fully realised online battlefield with is updated in realtime. Covering the whole of the European theatre during WWII.
It updates the controlled territory on the hour. When the war is won by one side, it starts all over again. (Kind of like WWII online)

  • Best weapon for destroying the RTS hating infidels
A whole squad of M4 Sherman Calliope's - Those things can destroy everything :D

Wasn't there a lower key version of this in Red Alert 2, and a two-player risk alike version in BFME2. But a fully blown, real time battlefield everyone partakes in at the same time (or 16-32 players) would be great.

Heard of, but don't think I've played TA. May have played another's copy at some point though. Getting the source version.

Welcome to the bunker Lieutenant LewisD your welcome pack is on your bed. Those are some mighty ambitious plans you have for the future.
An RTS MMO would be all kinds of awesome though.

Original Installer has a 'Mods' tab where you can select XTA and BA. Would that do the same?

I'm trying now, it takes forever to install, which I guess could be a good sign.

My method worked. Loads up Balanced Annihilation. Started against a bot and there are some dumb eyes and a dancing "Press F11" that won't disappear after pressing F11. I'll need to play with someone experienced who can explain it all to me as it seems made for existing fans.
