Guys I need help.

I'm trying to do some 'strength training' as I'm training for a marathon.

I'm clueless of where to start. I want to do it at home at first and not at the gym.

I went to see the lady in the gym and she gave me some things to do, I wrote them down and then thought I could youtube them. But i cannot find examples anywhere.

Can someone help me with what these exercises are?

This is what I'm struggling to find so far.

• Posterior Chain – Foot raises with a Leg Raise 12 Per Leg - 2 Side, Front, Side
• 15 x leg back pushes
• 15 x calf raises (for upper calf)

I mean, youtube just has loads of bulry gym men trying to get hench, i just want to make sure I improve my running and don't hurt myself. If you don't have any idea what these exercises are either, do you have any good websites I can go to to that have good workouts for marathon training? Thanks!

You basically need to strengthen your core but all over conditioning will help.

I find by going to circuit classes help but if you say do a Joe wicks class on YouTube that will be a good place to start as that will have exercises that cover everything you need

Thanks, I think the odds are against me getting an entry this year as most people will have their name in the hat twice due to 2020 race being cancelled, but it's definitely one I want to do at some point. I notice your name is on the entry list - no longer retired? :P

All focus for me now is on Escape From Meriden in November which will be my first 24hr race. I'm hoping to hit 100 miles but for some reason not many people do in this event, so I'm probably being optimistic

Your blog has been the biggest help over the last few years and I'm often going back and re-reading your race reports. The progress you have made since your first years running ultras is incredible. It's a massive motivation to be able to compare my Thames Trot with your old times and see that with enough effort maybe one day I too can run at Spartathlon ;)

Ha, thanks,

I’ve pretty much taken a year off racing to recover from some niggles and get my mojo back so have tentatively put in for a few upcoming races and will see how I’m feeling/faring.

So dipping my toe back into ultra running soon.
