But after 5/6k my ankle started to ache. Stopped and wiggled it for a bit, ran another 1k but it was still hurting and getting worse if anything so decided to stop.

I don't think I twisted it during the run, so not too sure what the issue is, feels like the outside of my (left) ankle. Possibly tendonitis, but that seems a bit much as I don't do that much running and most places seem to say it is from over training and suggests 4 weeks off.

Any other ideas?

I don't know specifically what that could be but if you don't do much running it's usually best to ease up and recover if you feel an injury coming on. Might not need 4 weeks though. If it was me I'd maybe try a slow run at the weekend but stop right away if you notice any pain. If it's still bad then take a couple weeks off or see a doctor/physio.

Did a run (around 6k I think) over the weekend. Felt a little bit on my ankle, but not as bad.

Will take it easy, but a bit annoying as the 10k I'm doing is next month, so was hoping to ramp up my running if anything now, not to reduce/slow it down.

One of my running goals for 2019 is to have completed every parkrun in Greater Manchester. At the moment I've done six (South Manchester, Burnage, Worsley Woods, Woodbank, Stretford, Marple) of 19.

Lyme is 100 yards past the Cheshire border so counts as one of the four bonus runs along with Wilmslow, Glossop and Macclesfield.

Ive now run 34 different parkrun locations across the north west. Last year i tried to get all 6 manchester parkruns within the M60. Fletcher Moss was the 7th that was new towards the end of last year which i also got.

I got a PB (after about 4 and a half years) at Platt fields which is good. Its a good course and the field is young and fast compared to other parkruns.
Heaton park is a good one, big crowd, long "gentle" hills. I parked at the golf carpark which was a mistake - 10 min walk to start, and you have to start paying after 10am.
I liked Stretford, Bolton is a good one - similar to stretford you start and finish on a running track. 2 laps, but theres a very steep hill - Cruella de Hill.
I liked Worsley woods - interesting run down the old train track.
Sale waterpark is not that good imo. The view of the water is obsured by the trees and there is a section along side the mersey that is very uneven grounding.
Wythenshawe is good - Oliver cromwell statue, farm and a fallen tree, the cafe does a good breakfast too.
Lyme park is good. Very tough first km, then downhill. uneven in places, but the views are good.
If you want tough parkruns, try Cuerden valley near Preston.

I want to do cheadle hulme, Wilmslow, Bramhall and woodbank this year.

Yesssss!

Half marathon PB smashed at Cambridge today 1:38:20

That's only my 3rd half in a race and I have gone from 1:48 to 1:44 to know being a sub 1:40 at that distance.

Next target sub 1:30, can I do it?

About 4 years ago I used to quite easily run 5 miles, but had to end up stopping. Tried to go on a run last week, could hardly make it down the end of the street had to turn back because of a coughing fit hahah. Maybe time to pack in the smoking....

I'm doing the Paphos half next week. I did 17km today and felt absolutely awful. I'm sure I'll pull the extra 5 Km from somewhere, but it'll be after a boozy friday night and Saturday day watching the six nations.

Maybe I shouldn't drink....Hmmmm?

Save the drinking until after the run.

Did the Marseille 10k today, managed to do it in 50:30. If I had known I was that close to sub 50 I would have gone a bit faster at the end! But a lovely 7k stretch along the coast and a really well organised event.

Pleased with the time as it was my first running event, (when I signed up I opted for the sun 57min group/pace) interesting how having other people there really made me keep up/push my speed.

I forgot that I've also done Sale Water Park, which says something. Not my favourite either. Also done Fletcher Moss which was OK but not one I'd make a point of doing again.

I've started doing track training on Friday nights so have been doing more volunteering recently. Did timekeeping at Stretford on Saturday. Funnel duckers and double crossers :dread:

Might have to go run 400 metres to make sure I can do it, in under 80 seconds.

Stretford is my local. Flat and fast with a track start and finish. Getting really big as well, 700+ in the past month.

But no parkrun tomorrow, because I'm running in this :!:

I'm lucky as I have March 6 miles one way and manor fields whittlesey 6 miles the other way. The former gets about 150 and the latter about 80.

12 miles out we have Peterborough at ferry meadows country park with about 600 people which is all tarmac so you can get faster times.

Those are the only three I have done but this year starting tomorrow I'm going to do some others a little further out as I fancy running some different courses so going to make my way to Littleport Parkrun

strawberry floating hell, is it full of professionals there? 21 people were quicker than you yet that’s a blistering time.

I did a 11k trail run today in about an hour 10 (waiting on result). My main issue was the down hill. I injured my ankle in Oct, and I’m doing really well now fitnesses wise (considering) but there was the combination of me slowing down due to diminished confidence (due to my injury being on a down hill) + not training much on down hills + the ground being like loose cobbles. Still, not too bad.

It's a really fast field, lots of the local big dogs are regular runners. Today's first finisher was 15:01 (and forgot his barcode). Not the parkrun to go for if you want a high position but great motivation.

Great job with your trail race, what was the event?
