Hey Avon, I see you finished the T184 last year. Incredible effort after your injury struggles. Well done!

My goal this year is mainly to be more consistent. I didn't do many miles last year and went for weeks at a time without running. Have just moved house and got the Surrey Hills and North Downs Way right on my doorstep - so no more excuses!

I have two events lined up so far this year:

March: Fallout (40 miles as the crow flies while escaping an ever expanding radiation cloud). I ran the inaugural event last year. My route was fairly efficient but I was under trained, so only just scraped through in the 12hr cut off with 5 minutes to spare. Goal was to do the same route but beat my time however lack of training recently means it will be difficult.

November: Escape From Meriden (24hrs to run your own route as the crow flies). I also ran this a few years ago and it was great fun. I had knee issues and called it a day after 50 miles, so goal this year is to beat that distance. Plenty of time to train...

I expect I will also enter the Shere 42k. It's local, very well organised by people who know what they are doing, and I ran it last year in a very slow time (hot day, no training, loads of hills). So I've got a very beatable time to beat.

Good luck in achieving your goals people.

Anyone else care to share their goals and objectives?

My goals are currently small.

Stay injury free.
Carry on with my strength and conditioning programme.
Get to 5k then onto 10k.
Get back to Parkrun.
Enter and complete an official race.

Bigger objectives can come later.

Mine is probably just to run regularly throughout the year. Would also be good to get some events lined up, nothing massive just some of the organised 10ks most likely.

I'm so sick of it being dark in the mornings when I go out. I've got a chest torch so I can see, but it's so gooseberry fool for motivation. I remember last year as soon as it got light in the mornings my pace dropped instantly.

Planning on doing a 14 mile run (22.53km) this weekend, to push my limit on order to make running half marathons easier.

Will plan on doing it around 10/11 minutes a mile pace.

My typical pace is 9 mins per mile for 5-10km runs

Good luck, let me know how you get on.

I am back at it this week, 39km so far this week + 5km parkrun on Saturday and my longest ever run on Sunday which will be 27.5km.

Good work. That's a lot of distance!

My pace is pathetic at the moment, but I'm just happy to be out regularly.

According to Fitbit it was just over 2:30 hours , but had to pause it frequently because of traffic. Had to walk/jog a bit for last 2 miles

Pleased to say I finished the Arc of Attrition last weekend, a 100 mile point to point race around the south-west coastal path from Coverack (south coast) to Lands End to Porthtowan (north coast) with 4000m of ascent.

It was the total opposite of everything I like or have practiced running-wise (hills, mud, difficult coastal terrain in parts i.e. scrambling over boulders, narrow gulleys, loose rocks etc) but that's the challenge of the event. Took an eternity (around 34hrs non-stop) to complete and legs feeling sore a couple of days later.

The event was superbly organised by Mud Crew with a huge amount of volunteers, live streaming, race tracking etc although I declined to step into any of the warm cosy aid-stations with their silver service as I would never have left! Glad to have ticked that one off having DNF'd it several years ago and no need to go back to it at all.

Just bought a secondhand treadmill. I hate treadmill running but I'm hoping it gets me doing a bit more on the days when I don't want to go outside. Also, it's hard to find a route that doesn't have massive hills, so the treadmill should help when I just want a flat workout.

Amazing, well done!
Arc of Attrition has been on my radar for a while but it looks to intimidating to be my first 100 miler. Most I've done is 70 miles along the North Downs and that destroyed me. One day...
