Worried about my Achilles at the moment, felt something was not right and carried on just doing my weekly parkrun but now the pain is always there. It’s more around my heel but pain does shoot up the back of my leg. When I stretch my foot forward or back there is something happening in the heel. Worried this is going to hamper my marathon in October :( at least it will the training.

Urgh, sorry to hear that bro. I understand though as running is huge for my mental health and if I couldn't do it I wouldn't know how to fill my evenings!

So physio actually wants me to carry on running but easy parkruns and a steady 3k a week alongside some exercises he has given me. Thats the good news!

Bad news is the marathon is a no go….. probably

At least you can still run! I have always managed to keep running when injured, you just need to do what they say which I'm sure you will.

In other nice got my 5 mile race PB yesterday in 31:48 (6:21 miles per minute pace)

Still on my slow recovery of achilles pain. Getting real frustrated now! I need to get out and do some daily walks but I find waking boring.

Just finished week 4 of my half marathon training #operationsub1:25 I'm calling it.

Did a 14 mile run yesterday with a 2 mile warm up then ran 2 miles at target pace and then 2 miles easier with a total of 6 miles effort and 8 miles easier.

Did a 7.00 mil minute average and ran a HM 1:34 during the run which was nice.

Rubix when do you think you can start running again?

That's very quick.

I'm training....but i'm not sure what for. Mainly cause I'm bored.

I ran a training half in about 2 hours 10 the other day but I wasn't going full out and the elevation here is crazy. On the run elevation gain was 778m. Avg heart rate 155.
I'd like to do a sub-1:45 half when back in UK, it'd certainly be a lot quicker with much less elevation. If going full out I'd have probably been able to do the hilly half on Saturday in sub 2 hours.

I'm currently doing about 50k a week, on Monday Tuesday I do one short (6-7K) and one Medium (10-12K) both hilly. Often chucking in 30 second hill intervals.
On wed or thurs depending on evenergy levels I'll do a workout run. Usually 3 km warm up, and then 4 x 3 min hill repeats and then 5 km gentle. Occasionally I'll go to the track.

On Fri or Sat depending on my schedule and if I've had a rest day I'll do the long jog, usually between 18km and a half.

I've been gradually upping the distances on the shorter days....I may push the long jog to 24 or 25km soon.

The difference in my training this time to previous half's is...I'm not fuelling during the long jog. Bring along some water and that's it....and my energy levels aren't depleting so much. I feel these hills have really raised me to the next level. Shame I won't be able to sustain this back in UK, but it's been very good for me whilst here.

Still suffering with my Achilles and damn it’s getting frustrating not doing any runs.

Putting on weight and getting lazy

Anyone else watching UTMB? Https://live.utmb.world

CCC is on at the moment and I've just had the answer to what should you do when you run into a field of cows. One of the runners just grabbed a cow's tail and held on using the running cow to give him a speed boost :slol:

The main UTMB race starts at 5pm and should be interesting with lots of big names taking part. Killian Jornet tested positive for COVID but is still racing apparently. Jim Walmsley has been fully focused on this race and has to be a favourite.

Edit: 2 hours in and Killian, Jim, and Zach Miller are the leading group. Should be an exciting race!!

Did a 6km run yesterday it was embarrassing. Since my Achilles went I have lost so much fitness. I started okay and stayed with the pack until I hit 4k and than I just dropped and dropped until I lost sight of the last person. I really need to get my fitness back. My parkrun is now 3 minutes slower than my average pace.

Hopefully you're on the mend, are you recovered and just trying to build back up now?

I'm awaiting an MRI scan on my knee, must admit I'm feeling pretty low at the moment as running takes up so much of my time and I have this big empty void at present.

Trying to build up my fitness, my Achilles is very very slowly improving but after three months it’s not close to being normal. Now other pains have come in plus lack of fitness so now doing 2x 5k runs a week but my fitness is going backwards at the moment and even an increase in running is seeing my times steadily getting worse.

I know this may sound hard, but maybe try not to compare to your own times of past? Set out for a jog without worrying about the time and see how you get on. I had to do that last year after I broke my ankle, it was tough, but eventually my fitness came back. I'm routing for both of you!

Did a 4km run today, first proper exercise in 3 months after spraining my ankle at football. Not as bad as I expected but a lot of work to do. I've turned into a bit of a fat bastard, really want to get into a good routine. Dropped the little man at nursery at 7.30am and got home and went straight out. I think getting out and back before work is the way to do it.
