Started to run my marathon loop now, they chose a hilly loop which isn’t going to be easy come lap 5. Could only manage 1 lap today post covid.

Very impressive, well done.

Looking to upgrade my Forerunner 245 to a Fenix 6 Pro. Anyone have one they can comment on?

Did 20K in 1 hour and 54 minutes. Just targeting for 11 miles (17.7K) but pushed it.

My Garmin keeps demanding I do 'anaerobic'. Ie, super fast sprints and getting my heartrate over 190.
Is there any real benefit, or can I just keep doing my gentler runs with heartrate 140-170?
I hit 180-185 on may runs even, but to consistently do such an extreme heart rate removes all joy out of jogging and ruins any longer distances.

Only if you want to get faster, if you're happy doing what you're doing then ignore it.

I'll ignore it whilst I'm in this hilly place. When I live somewhere flatter I'll consider it, thanks!

Second 10k race of the year today and I have woken with both feet in pain so not really looking forward to it. Don't see a PB on the cards which I was hoping for (would need to beat 44 mins) i'd be happy with a sub 50.

45:57 for a 10k not bad considering two injuries. Need to give my Achilles a rest now before I do some major damage.

Anyone have tips for running through a field of cows?

I've been doing a 10 mile hilly trail route a couple of times a week for last few weeks and it's been great at getting my fitness back. However, there is a section that goes through a cow field and the last two times they have completely blocked my path, so I've just turned around and gone a different way. I'm not sure how fast a cow can run and don't really want to test it.

Pretty fast is the answer from someone who has been chased by cows. My advice would be not to run past them and just walk until you know you are clear of them. Cows will chase a runner but seem to avoid wakers. If they come towards you hold your arms out flat palms seems to do the trick.

Avoid them! I’m terrified of cows.
My long run route had cows added to it during lockdown around the same time during the summer that two people were trampled to death by them. What an awful way to die. Cows are easily startled and incredibly stupid so I won’t enter into any kind of negotiation with them preferring to avoid them completely. When I did Duke of Edinburgh expeditions we were told to shout loudly at the cows. Nothing specific, you get to pick.

After that deputy head teacher was run over by cows a cow expert said that if you have a dog on a lead, let it go as the cows will chase the dog instead of the person so if you don’t have a dog perhaps get a dog to deploy in emergencies.

I have a fenix 6s and it's fantastic. But it's my first garmin so I can't compare between the two. But it was worth every penny.

Edit: Cows? I just walk at them and they depart.....never had an issue with them, except standing in their gooseberry fool. I wouldn't continue at jogging pace though until about 20-30 metres away, that may startle them a bit much.

Have one now and love it. Typical they should release new forerunners but still prefer the metal over the plastic.

Oh I'm glad, I think this will keep me going nicely until 2025...or the battery dying. I'm hoping the same for my Galaxy S20+ but that's already 2 years 'old'. Sigh...tehcnology!

Wow what a successful few days!

We entered a team into the Peterborough Green Wheel Relay, which is a 7 stage event around the Peterborough cycle route and we came first in 5:08:21. My first ever running trophy.

Last night we had the first Peterborough Grand Prix 5K series race at eye and I managed a new PB in 18:40 knocking 6 seconds from my time and it wasn't flat so I reckon I can knock another 10-20 seconds of from that.

Well done.

I think I'm going to do a half Marathon in November. Anyone know of any good ones that time of year?
