The winning time was only 21:01 which shows how tough the course is. I might try a flatter course next week and go for sub 25.

I think I pushed slightly too hard at the start, and could knock another 20s off next week just by pacing myself better.
The broken 'First unread post' thing sent me back to April on this thread, so I saw this top post, and then the second one on this page.
and, indeed
That's an amazing improvement in the space of a few months, mate, even allowing for your notes about the course changing. Good work.
I'm starting to get into fighting shape now, too. Just did my fastest ever loop from the office at lunch (it's 2.4mi). I had been feeling a bit slow, so did some fast hills at the weekend and it's given me some of my swagger back. I ran at 6mins49s per mile, and feel pretty good again.
(As an aside, I've been wrestling with depression for a number of reasons for the past few years, and running again, while not sorting all of my issues, has made me feel a
lot better. Kicking myself for not doing it sooner. I need to keep booking myself onto events/races, though, as without a target, I just stop doing it.)
