Rutland Night Run 10k I ran a 43:49 last night which is a new PB! Absolutely chuffed and I can't believe how far my running has come along this year!!!!

Thus thread seems a little quiet at the moment, are people running much still? Does the dark and cold put anyone off?

I have another half marathon on Bedford beginning of December and that should be my final race this year

Anyone else use the Nike+ app? Feels like the distances were all screwed up this morning. Did a usual 8k loop and it was insisting it was actually 10. Was a decent time for me over 8 but was miles ahead of my pb for 10 so it's ballsed up my stats.

I'm a Strava and Garmin man, though something like that would really wind me up

I had 2 weeks rest after my ultra, then was Ill so had another easy week, but starting to get back into the routine again now.

Just found out that a new Parkrun started at Brooklands last week. That's pretty close to me and should be a very fast course, so I'm looking forward to trying it out this week.

Decided to take a different route today. A 7km run turned into a 12km one. Then I still had to walk/jog 5km home.

Ergo.

Theres a new parkrun that is half the distance from my house compared to the next closest one. Likely to be cold, raining and windy - that should keep the numbers down

Hey everyone,

I’ve just started light jogging again after 2 months off through injury. It was so bad I had to buy a bike for exercise.

I’m a million miles away from fitness, have put on an extra 10% weight, still have an estimated few weeks before the injury fully settles but I can run a bit.

I did the Guildford Mince Pi run today - A 3.14 mile lap with the option of completing 1 - 10 laps. Mince pies on offer to eat after each lap too. It turned to chaos...

My aim was to go for the max 10 laps but on lap 3 a river burst it's banks and flooded the course. I ploughed through the waist-high ice cold water but at the end of the lap they stopped us doing any more. Instead people were turned around to do half laps but the instructions were not very clear and everyone went in different directions. Most people were then skipping the ridiculously steep hill but others were still doing it every lap (twice as often now). The timing and lap counting seemed to stop at this point too, and people were just doing whatever they wanted. I did one of these mini laps (with the hill) and then called it a day.

It's a shame as it's otherwise a good, tough course.

I did 17km today in 1:37. I'm slowly building up the distance for a half in February. I'm trying to incorporate hills as well. As the last half I did was flat and I have no clue if this one will be. 17km and 245m elevation gain. Not too bad. Still though, not sure if I'd be able to get sub 2 hours unless the half isnt hilly.

My second half marathon couple of weeks ago was all hills, I was either going up or down, was so tough as I have no hills living in the fens

Did a 10k around the Olympic Party this morning, was an ok cause but there were a few u and other harsh bends. I'm guessing this screws up Garmins as I only recorded 9.8k.

Did ok overall 51:58. Have been doing Park Runs for the last 10 weeks or so, starting at 30:51 and down to 25:33 last week (did a few Weeks of Couch to 5k before bit didn't do the whole programme). Hoping to drop down under 25 minutes over Christmas.

The other dimension is my weight, i weigh about 89-90kg where I should be around 73-75kg. I imagine the loss of about 15kg would do wonders to my times!

Are there enough people to do a GRCADE park run meet up (maybe just an inside the M25 one).

Signed up to do a 10k in Marseille in March.

Don't do much running, but can do 5k, never really try doing much more... Will start going on longer runs in the Jan. Looking forward to it! Not too sure on a time, I'm aiming for under an hour? I can do 5k in about 25mins.

If you can run a 25m 5k and you're going to do a bit of practice it shouldn't be too much of a push to get something beginning with a 4.

Got a knee injury at the end of summer and went off the rails put on about 30 pounds. Back in working order now but my 10Ks have gone from 49min PBs back to 1hour 1 min. Oh well the main thing is getting back to a routine.

I think I may have cheered you on....

I was by the side of the road in Cranfield (if that's the same run that you did?)

First sub hour 20k since I hurt my knee in September.

If you don't use it you lose it.

20k???? Is that a typo!!? Pretty fast though hahaha. My 10k is about 50-55 mins but i think in a competative 10k i may be able to break into the 40s. I did a 22 min 5k other day, almost got hit by a car though as got confused by a traffic light (i thought it qas red for traffic but the feeder left turn had the green arrow). Thats the trouble with jogging around the city at night.

Finally got under 21 minutes at 5k at Peterborough Parkrun today (though it's only my second competitive 5k in 6-7 months as I usually do long runs on a Sunday so like to rest on Saturdays)

Smashed it in 20:55 and I had consistent split's which I'm really happy about in 6:41, 6:42 & 6:42.

My running has come on do much this year, you literally get out if this sport what you put into it, you really can't cheat things!
