Structural rebel, ingredient neutral for me. However, structural rebel doesn't go as far as making sandwiches from waffles or any other BS like that.

Structure neutral, ingredient rebel. Everything apart from the wraps, taco and pop tart is a sandwich. Burgers are also sandwiches. As for ingredients, I'm easy: luncheon meats, Bolognese, chilli, chips, crisps, peanut butter, all good as fillings. Bread: regular, toast, Irish fried bread, cookies, doughnuts. Fill. Your. Boots.

My only rules are that you need to be able to eat it with your hands, and you shouldn't expect to have to clean your hands afterwards. Those 6 inch tall double patty monstrosities have lost sight of the sandwich ideal. Eggs should be cooked to the consistency of a good poach, not borderline raw like in a fry up.

A baguette is not a sandwich. It's a baguette. That's why they're referred to as baguettes. Because they're not sandwiches.

Hot dogs and burgers are of sandwich form, but they are not "sandwiches". If you ask someone to buy you a sandwich, and they come back with a hot dog, you are perfectly entitled to spit in their face.

I have solved this much of my life by making sausage or hotdog sandwiches. The trick is to cut them lengthways.

As long as its between two slices of bread (or possibly a breadcake/roll/bun) and is an acceptable foodstuff then it's a sandwich.

Structural purist, ingredient neutral. For me anything between two slices of bread or between the top and bottom half of some sort of bun/roll/baguette etc. is a sandwich. I've long maintained that almost anything can be eaten in sandwich form.

This is correct. You don't have sandwiches at a barbeque. You don't have burgers and hot dogs as part of a sandwich platter. It's hard to explain why they aren't sandwiches, but the fact remains that they just aren't.

But if you go to McDonalds and order a Big Mac they ask if you want a meal or just the sandwich so a burger is a sandwich.

I would agree with this. I think people get confused because normally a hot dog bun is still all connected whereas most people think of two independent pieces of bread as making a sandwhich.

Stick with me Moggy, us True Neutrals are being assaulted on all fronts by the bread only conservatives, and the sweet filling degenerates.
