But what you said doesn't make any sense. Was that meant to be a dig at me? I don't get what you were trying to do with it.

It was meant to be a tongue-in-cheek dig, as I know you love those strawberry floating Vuvu-what's-their-name horn things that are going to ruin the World Cup for anyone who isn't deaf this year. I also fully appreciate that it didn't make any sense, but that's as good as you're going to get out of me when I'm half asleep on a Thursday night after a hard day's work.

With the Scotland game coming up I'm not exactly sure which side I'd like to see. I feel that playing a defensive 4-5-1 formation would be more sensible although I'm not sure that such a formation can accommodate Boyd.

Playing a 4-4-2 I'd choose would be Hutton at right back, Wallace at left back and any combination of Berra, Caldwell and Webster as centre backs. In the middle of the park I think there needs to be balance, with players having different but clearly defined roles. In the centre of midfield I'd like to see McCulloch as a holding midfielder, as he's been criminally underrated in this role. He also offers a great threat in the box at set pieces and can strike the ball exceptionally well. Fletcher is the obvious option to play alongside him, he's our only world class player and can really dictate, box to box. On the right of the midfield I'd play Whittaker, another hugely underrated player who can create from midfield but can get back and support the defence. On the left of midfield McFadden is a bit of a luxury, especially in a 4-4-2 formation but I'd prefer him to Robson. Up front the choice of Boyd and Miller has to be tried, if it doesn't work at international level then we can operate differently during the actual qualifiers.

Playing a 4-5-1 I'd stick with Steven Fletcher or Kenny Miller up front alone and add Scott Brown to midfield.

Sorry, I thought you were just being cynical. I'd add it.

Webster??? No chance mate. We need to work for the future too, I don't want to see Kenny Miller playing.. Fletcher needs to be blooded through. I don't like the fact that McCulloch or Boyd are back, but they are certainly good enough to get in our squad.

This is a disorganized rant.

I reckon Rangers will get the win, purely because of the home turf advantage. Despite points margin, both teams are fairly level performance wise.

I would be perfectly happy with the team you've laid out there. I agree with the bolded statements.

Does anybody else think our group is actually pretty good for us? We generally play better against the bigger nations and we've got a good record against Lithuania... can we do it this time?

Yeah I reckon we got a shot. It's not as bad as it could have been. Then again, if we had all the top teams in the World in our group I'd still back Scotland to qualify
