Does Paris get demoted for that time when he evolved into a lizard and got busy with Janeway?

Or maybe that is why he got promoted. :datass:

Even Nelix gets more career advancement than Harry and he's a useless bag of shite.

Yep, he goes from just a simple guide to head cook to ambassador all while being gooseberry fool at all of those things meanwhile Harry struggles like strawberry float to be the best of the best and is strawberry floating ignored.
Maybe he boned Janeways Mum or something.

Given the way Neelix always failed upwards, it's amazing his character design wasn't an upperclass white male.

There must be more to Neelix than we know, he did get Kes to go out with him after all!

It was the whiskers of pure power that got Nelix where he is.
It sure wasn't his cooking as he regularly burnt down the kitchen or created food that contaminated the bloody power supply.

Everyone wanted to bone Kes though which was really odd as she's supposed to only be 4 years old in the show :shifty: .

https://intl.startrek.com/database_article/kes

She was 2 when she joined the ship and people started to want to bone her so that's much worse :slol: .

Yeah I always felt sorry for Harry. I get there isn't much room for promotion on the ship, but Tuvok got a promotion from Lieutenant to Lieutenant Commander and Paris got demoted to Ensign and then promoted back to Lieutenant.

Could've at least promoted Harry to Lieutenant or something. I mean he's a Bridge Officer and even qualified to actually command the ship on Night Shift

They didn't even need to give him a pay rise as they don't use money so it's just a title and a badge on his uniform.

Was it not something to do with Garrett Wang being a bit of a bellend?

Also, it ruined the show a little for me to find out that Janeway and Seven of Nine hated each other IRL.

The amount of stupid gooseberry fool that happens in Voyager just makes me avoid watching it again.

Kinda want to through Enterprise again though. I don't remember much about that show, the totally crap theme tune is burned into my brain though.

They were going to get rid of Garrett Wang at one point because of him constantly being late onto the set and the producers must not liking him. He was actually suspended from the show for a few episodes of Season 3 and doesn't appear in then.
Originally Season 3 was supposed to end with Part 1 of Year of Hell (though at that time it wasn't going to involve time travel or anything but be a season long arc across Season 4 of Voyager being in real gooseberry fool, aka a "Year of Hell") but when they decided to introduce a new character to boost ratings they came up with the idea of it being a former Borg drone instead, hence we got Scorpion.

Now Part 1 of Scorpion was written with the intention of killing off Harry and then introducing Seven, whilst also keeping Kes around. During the break between Seasons 3 and 4 though Garrett Wang was one of People Magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People", so the producers decided to keep him as they were worried firing him after that would harm ratings. By then though they had already signed contracts with Jeri Ryan, but also wanted to keep the main cast at 9 characters, so they eventually decided to fire Jennifer Lien, probably because the other characters were seen as more popular.

The Year of the Hell should have been an extended arc. Brilliant episodes, gooseberry fool reset button at the end.

It could have been amazing. They could have made real strides into character growth as they fight to keep everything together while under more and more pressure. It would have forced the Captain into some real dark choices and they would have to test the limits of how much they valued the Prime Directive in regards to breaking it for selfish reasons.
They could have become murder hobo's or downtrodden but righteous.

Wouldn't have worked for syndication, which was how Star Trek was made back then.

I'm glad we now have series that can have series or multi series overall stories now.
It's hard to go back to stories of the week with very little character development.
