The finale of season 1 and the start of Season 2 of Lower Decks has been great.

Riker continues to prove why he's my favourite Star Trek character holy gooseberry fool hahaha

Story speculation

I'm up to episode 5 of Season 2 now and I can only presume that the reason the ship security was so messed up is that the Boyle who went back to the ship was actually the transporter clone. I don't know if that's common knowledge but I get the feeling that's what the story is heading towards.

When compared to a very similar aspect of Picards finale it blows it out the water

Oh well, a pirating I shall go.

Already paying for at least 3 streaming services, I'm not planning on paying for another.

Remember when it was just Netflix? It was strawberry floating great.

Then the corps smelt money to be made and slowly but surely strawberry floating ruined it for everyone.

Just looked on Netflix and Seasons 1-3 now have an "Available till November 18th" notice when you start to watch them.

Other series seem fine for now, but I can't imagine this bodes well for Picard season 2 or Lower Decks season 3 being on Amazon either.

Dick move.

What are the options for Paramount + in the UK anyway? Is it only sky customers? I would assume it'll have a traditional sub-model as well.

The worst part is that its 2-days away from launch and now they expect us to patiently wait till some nebulous strawberry floating time next year.

Piss off.

I'll be sailing the high-seas and if anyone wants a copy I'll be more than happy to point them in the appropriate direction.

In the US, Paramount+ offers two paid tiers: $4.99/month with adverts, and $9.99/month without adverts – but it’s still unknown what the UK cost is going to be.

So you can pay for it and still get strawberry floating adverts unless you cough up more cash.

I'm genuinely strawberry floating livid right now.

I downloaded season 1, 2 and 3 as soon as I saw the news.

Although it doesn't effect me - I think Discovery is pretty bad and I don't watch it - surely there has to be a saturation point with all these separate services?

I guess they'll keep pushing it until that point is reached. If it hasn't been reached already.

I'm at the point where I don't really want to sub to anything else. That said, I'm not averse to sharing a sub between my immediate family, assuming it lets you do that.

I'm just fed up of having to switch between different apps to watch stuff though. I want it all in one place.

https://www.justwatch.com/ - Is useful for finding out where a specific series/movie is, but I'd definitely welcome something that collects it all in one place for browsing and watching.

Isn't Picard funded by Amazon or am I imagining that? Either way I'll just look for alternative ways to watch stuff if it isn't on Amazon or Netflix.

Amazon prime is doing this more and more. We're rewatching the shield (which was included as part of prime, so free), and half way through series one it suddenly switched to 'watch free with adverts'. Turns out they've moved a load of stuff to IMDBtv, yet another banana spliting streaming service, which is billed as free, yet I have to watch it and the adverts from within prime video WHICH I strawberry floating PAY FOR.

Yeah I'd noticed that as well. That can strawberry float off. If I'm paying for your service I won't accept adverts. Thats an instant "Time to pirate it" decision for me. I despise advertising in almost all it's forms (I do like a movie trailer) and the constant push to turn everything into a strawberry floating billboard is infuriating.

Picard is just distributed by Amazon in the UK. In the US it's under Paramount Plus, as is Lower Decks.

With a movie slated for the next 2 years (and no seemingly production or cast agreed yet) I’m sort of very despondent about it.

The huge budget & return they need (in a recent interview with the head of Paramount he stated this was a real dilemma on the film series future) seems like an uphill battle.

I’ve always found Trek is best without lots of fights or action, but appreciate that wouldn’t tail over well on the big screen for a blockbuster.

But I don’t know if we really need a movie now or a continuation of Pine’s Kirk to be honest. With all the TV and steaming product on the go it seems enough

I've been trying to pinpoint when the best time for streaming was, before it got all gooseberry fool and 'this is why we can't have nice things', i want to say around 2017-2018?

What we really need is a TNG-era survival horror game.
