Voyager was probably my favourite when watching them at the time, but it has been years since I went back to it so I don't know if it would hold up as well now. I'm planning to get round to both Voyager and DS9 once I'm done with rewatching TNG!
On which note, continuing my TNG rewatch thoughts - now onto Season 5!
Redemption Part II - Not quite as good as part 1 for me (and just beaten as a season finale/opener pairing by Best of Both Worlds) but still brilliant. I don't think I appreciated how great the Klingon episodes of TNG were back when I originally watched these. Worf continues to be the shows MVP
Darmok - Great episode, any chance to get Patrick Stewart to show off his acting chops is always going to be a winner and this episode does it with aplomb. Central premise is great and the way that Picard goes about developing his understanding of the Tamarian language is so great to watch play out. Obviously if you start thinking about it too much then you can pick holes in the Tamarian language concept - how do they express quick and direct needs, requirements or warnings for example? "DUCK!" is a lot easier to shout at someone about to get hit in the head than "Hestan and Belmar in the forest", but I can overlook that because the episode is so good!
Ensign Ro - A bit of a come down after the last few episodes, but this is still a nice Bajoran introduction. Ensign Ro is a nice addition to the crew but I'm glad she didn't come back for DS9 as Kira is a much better character.
Silicon Avatar - Data gets to put up with some more Android racism from the federation's resident boomer Kila Marr. Fortuntely Data wins her over by pretending to be her deceased son and defiling his memory by reading her extracts of his personal diary.
Riker gets to spend the episode pissed off because his love interest had the gall to die before he had the opportunity to bang her. The ending was a bit gooseberry fool where they kill the crystalline entity because nobody on the bridge is apparently able to find the "off" switch for the pulse generator. Moral of the story - don't trust old people.
Disaster - Picard struggles to tackle the biggest challenge of his Starfleet career: having to put up with three kids for a few hours! No one part of this episode is especially brilliant but it works really well as we get to see some uncommon character combos and situations. Troi taking charge on the bridge and dealing with conflicting views and advice from O'Brien and Ro, Picard working out how to rescue himself and the kids all whilst suffering from a broken ankle, Worf turns midwife and delivers not only Keiko's baby but some of the best humour the show has seen to date, and Geordi and Dr Crusher have to deal with being trapped in a cargo bay with a radiation leak and some fuel barrels that are ready to explode Doom style. Oh and also Riker and Data go for a piss about in the Jefferies tubes where their combined intellect allows them to come up with the brilliant solution to their problems - fry Data's body and decapitate him! Not GOAT material but just a really great episode.
The Game - Wesley saves the day by being a square who says no to everyone's perfectly reasonably demands for him to get addicted to a mind altering videogame. What a loser!
