I didn't realise William Shatner was in his 80's until I read the article pointing out he's 81 years old.

Think it's shameless money grabbing that only the Platinum ticket includes a Captain Autograph. Have to wonder how much they'll be charging for those individually on the day.

For that price I'd expect my accomodation to be included and be sharing the room with Jeri Ryan at the very least.

You can almost guarantee one of the main captains won't make it for some shitty reason, and it would blatantly be Stewart.

I'd love to meet Patrick and just ask him to say that, "It's too late, because i've seen everything"

I think I will go for the £49 ticket. Only £20 more than the single day one and includes autographs, goodie bag etc.

Do you guys think the standard tickets will sell out fast? Is there the need to book today or in the next few days?

I hope they sell the bridge photo shoot tickets on their own. I'd like a picture of myself on Voyager's bridge if its there.

wonder what the VIP pass will include at £2999

That makes as much sense as John Prescott trying to explain...well...anything.

So is there no chance of getting in on the 5 Captains thing unless you have one of the super-mega-rip-off tickets? Reads like it.

There is, but you'll likely have to pay £30-60 per Captain and stand in line for 3 hours each.

No1 FFF, what will you expect from the 49.99 tickets?

I expect the only actors/actresses you would meet would be some Ensign who is unfortunate enough not to have a name and died on the show.

u get a presigned autograph and 3 day access. Worth it imo. I will be fine with just taking pictures of the Captains from a distance on my cam lol

Is anyone else suddenly losing all their enthusiasm for this? :(

There would be some nutjob who want to perform oral sex on all the captains, and weeping while asking Picard if they could be his number two and ignore Scott Bakula. Worth it for the lols, but £900? Get to the strawberry float.

Conventions like this have always struck me as horrible exercises in profiteering. Of those 5 Captains who, apart from Stewart perhaps, wouldn't give you an autograph for free if you saw them on the street? They've been in nothing of interest since their stints on Star Trek and would struggle to get top billing in any other production so they'd probably relish the attention.

The whole thing is a way to turn love and enthusiasm for a series into cash. I think I'd feel dirty going to something like that.

I'm feeling the same way after looking through the ticket packages. It's nothing but an attempt to cash in on the love that the fans have for Star Trek. The worst part of it is that people will pay for those Platinum package tickets and they'll probably be the first to sell out.

When I first read about this I was so excited and ready to start booking up, especially since hotels will probably be cheap with the Olympics just being over and done with. Now though....I just don't think I have any desire to go, knowing that I'll ultimately be disappointed after the first 5 minutes when I realise I wont get to do anything I want without standing in a line for hours on end.

Who's everyone's least favourite character in the franchise, then?

I can't decide whether to go for the annoyance that is Neelix from Voyager, or the blandness of the "exactly the same at the end of Season 7 as he is in Season 1" Harry Kim (also from Voyager), or "plank of wood who could suck the life out of a party at Studio 54" Travis Mayweather from Enterprise. Hmmm.
