God how does it keep getting worse?!

Every moment is trying to be profound and meaningful, complete with epic swells of music and dramatic framing, which means none of them actually are. Everyone talks either like they think they're delivering the greatest monologue put on screen or like they're in a whacky teen-drama.

I hate it. Actively hate it. Watching it is like having ants under my skin.

I'm so sorry I ever doubted you Hexx.

So, 9/10 then?

You don't have to watch it if you aren't enjoying it. It is very different from other Trek shows and the absence of a few Q episodes (however they shoehorn him in) is disappointing.
Hopefully, the change to a more classic planet of the week style format may be more to your taste.

We're committed to hate watching it now I think. There aren't that many eps and we've nothing else (save the Trek films) on our radar.

God, though. Genuinely fuming.

Lower Decks is the best trek since Voyager.

I said it when it was showing in the US, but there is so much love and respect for the franchise evident in the writing. Some ridiculously deep cuts as well.

Really looking forward to season 2.

Yeah, Lower Decks is basically a love letter to older Star Trek. And I love it.

The writer of Lower Decks wrote a fake season 8 set of scripts and storylines for TNG that my wife got me for Christmas. It's very good!

Finished Discovery season 3.

Not much to say I haven't already said, although whoever directed the finale really, really likes Pixar films (the elevator chase was straight from Monsters Inc, the robots were literally knock-off Wall-Es).

Utter shite. I can't think of a single redeeming thing to say, except that S1 should have been set in this time period from the start. That it wasn't and was somehow supposed to work as a prequel is beyond me.

On to Lower Decks I think.

The first episode should have been 10 minutes longer so the voice actors had time to squash in their lines instead of rushing through a lot of speech.

It took me 4 episodes to twig that Boingle or whatever his name is is also Hewie from The Boys.

I was totally unconvinced by Lower Decks after the first episode but by the end of the series I was - and remain - convinced that it's the best Star Trek adaptation since the 1990s.

I really need to get on and watch Lower Decks by the sounds of things.

I'm still quite early on in DS9 at the moment, they really haven't found the focus for the show at this point.

It comes together around S3. S4 takes off like a strawberry floating rocket. The first episode of that season is a real turning point.

Yeah I remember back when I first watched it finding it hard going to start with but eventually finding its feet (which is basically the case for all of the TNG/DS9/VOY era!)

I'm still early in S2 now, they still don't really know what they are doing with half of the characters. Dax might as well have not been there for most of season 1!

I thought DS9 was fantastic for seasons 3-6. I'm not such a huge fan of 7, but I like the show enough at this point that it's fine.

DS9 only finds its feet after The Jem'Hadar (the episode, not the aliens). There are a few highlights beforehand, the 2 parter on 21st Century Earth is some top tier trek, but the latter series are the best Trek's ever been IMO.

My recollection from the ~20 years ago when I last watched it was that Worf showing up was the turning point, but I think it had already started to get its gooseberry fool together before that.

I always forget it's a whole season between the Dominion arc starting and Worf showing up. But yeah: it starts getting its gooseberry fool together after Jem'Hadar, then becomes the show it's remembered for when Worf turns up.
