My TNG rewatch continues into S2, Riker now has his beard so all is essentially well with the world.

Just watched A Matter of Honour where he has flirted with some Klingons and joked about an interspecies threesome, dude's still got it. :datass:

Riker is the horniest man in the universe and up for anything.
He even gets it on with an androgynous alien who knows nothing about sex, he's just that awesome.

Haha very true!

On a related note I'm keeping a score of how many times I see the "Riker maneuver" as I go.

Only up to 2 at this point I think, although it's 3 if you include the "reverse Riker"

Was going to keep track of how many times Picard pulls his uniform stiffly down as he moves but that quickly became unmanageable, the guy can't leave his outfit alone!

Did you know they had to redesign the outfits as they were so tight they were giving the actors back problems.

https://www.fastcompany.com/3022935/how ... ns-spandex

For one, it was incredibly uncomfortable. “Jumbo, or Super Spandex, whatever you want to call that heavier weight stretch, will stretch from side to side or top to bottom, depending on how you cut the garment,” explains Blackman. “So the costume would dig into the actors’ shoulders, wearing them 12 or 15 hours a day.” This resulted in many of the cast members developing back problems.

In addition, Spandex is particularly unflattering unless your body is perfect. “Spandex is unforgiving, so if you have any sorts of body issues, they are there.”

Add to this the fact that the material bunches up, resulting in at least one curious legacy: to keep his outfit from riding up, actor Patrick Stewart, who played the Enterprise’s Captain Jean-Luc Picard, began tugging it down during filming. This habit became so well known that it ended up being one of his character’s most beloved tics, known by fans the world over as “The Picard Maneuver.”

Yeah I've read before about the costumes being an absolute nightmare, who knows what Starfleet were thinking when they came up with them!

The Starfleet Fashion Corps are clearly the most powerful part of Starfleet with how often they can just throw new uniforms out there to the point that you've got people on the same ships wearing two different uniforms because not everyone has had a chance to catch up yet.

Dr Crusher's blue lab coat is probably the biggest crime the Fashion Corps have committed so far during this re-watch. Polaski may be a horrid witch but at least she doesn't seem to have to wear that awful coat all the time!

strawberry float Polaski. She was gooseberry fool, treated Data like a thing and if you put an "N" between the "a" and "s" of her name she becomes a paedo. Horrendous woman.

Oh and her voice is gooseberry fool.

Just watched Contagion, which I'd say is probably the first really great episode of the run. :toot:

Another very good episode! The drama is a little more contrived in that though - "Data is Starfleet property!" Why? ... because reasons? "Riker must argue against you!" Uh again why? ... more reasons?

In reality Starfleet is a pretty legit outfit and they'd have just said "can you explain why you want to dismantle Data, demonstrate you know what you're doing and prove that the risks are valid?" And Maddox would have promptly had to strawberry float off.

True, either that or they've been replaced with some form of alien clone/hybrid!

No wonder Picard just wanted to live it up on his vineyard for the last 20 years rather than deal with any of them!

Finally started watching DS9 properly (rather than whatever was on bbc2 when I was a kid) following the guide on letswatchstartrek.com, there are barely a handful of good episodes in season 1 , at least I'll get to the Dominion wars quicker :datass:
