I have watched In the Pale Moonlight now. Garak is a hero and did nothing wrong.

Best episode of Star Trek. And it cements Garak as my favourite Trek character.

Watched all of Enterprise S3. 'Damage' is a strawberry floating banger of an episode.

Started DS9 on Netflix last night, strawberry float me the picture quality has fallen off a cliff from the TNG episodes! It's like the Netflix stream of TNG is based off some DVD/Blu Ray remaster and the DS9 episodes are just some shitty recorded from TV VHS tapes that someone found down the back of the sofa! :dread:

Emissary is a decent pilot episode (something which isn't necessarily a strong point for Trek in general) and does a good job of setting the viewer up for what is going to be a different kind of Trek show

TNG on Netflix is from the remasters they did, and did release on Blu-Ray. DS9 is basically still the original broadcast versions.

They didn't do remasters for DS9 as it would have been significantly more expensive than the previous shows. DS9 featured significant amounts of CGI (Particularly in the later series where big space battles are entirely CGI) that would all need either much more work to remaster, or just redoing entirely from scratch, so they never did a remaster in the same way they did for TOS and TNG.

I think I remember reading something about the way the masters have been stored being an issue as well. Something about a weird format being used?

I'd love to see DS9 remastered.

Yeah I was reading up on the remaster stuff, it feels like in this day an age some AI upscaling on the CGI should be possible to enable them to produce something better looking because it is really poor looking compared to TNG now. Or even just remaster the live action shots and leave the CGI lower quality, if it's mainly the space scenes where CGI is used it wouldn't look too jarring.

Very true, but again I can do that any time I want. They’ve made an absolute banana split of getting Lower Decks out over here.

Yeah, I seen one fan project using AI upscaling for the show. Maybe when the tech becomes more widely used by studios, they'll consider it as being cost effective.

Yeah fingers crossed, hopefully it will be the kind of thing that becomes pretty standard to revive older content.

Just finished Discovery series 3 and I really enjoyed it but found the abrupt ending in the middle of a story rather odd.

As for those disparaging Enterprise, you should all be ashamed of yourselves!!!!!!!!

Yes, series 1 is a bit pants but series 2 is good and by series 3 it's really good and by the end it was pretty great.
Yes, it has the worst ending of pretty much anything ever but if you discount that particular episode the show was in a really good place at the end.
The time war was interesting (who doesn't love watching space Nazi's get walloped!) and even the single episode stories had improved massively.

Lastly, anyone who didn't like the slower theme tune obviously has gooseberry fool taste in theme tunes and most likely doesn't even like the Airwolf theme tune which is a solid gold classic.

Shame on you all :capnscotty: .

How'd you manage that, when Season 3 is still ongoing?

Erm, I just assumed episode 10 was the last for the series as I've been a bit behind :shifty: .

I assume Georgiou has bogged-off back in time to star in her own Section 31 series?

Catching up a bit with Discovery so I can watch season 3 over Christmas. Bloody hell, the last two episodes of season 2 I've found really painful. It's almost like they are trying too hard to make every scene really deep and meaningful, and it has the opposite effect of being just a word salad.

I hope season 3 is much better, but Star Trek could really do with getting rid of the Bad Robot/Abrams/Kurtzman production.
