In the 29th Century I'd imagine. Season 3 of Discovery is in the 32nd Century isn't it?

(The actual answer is probably that, as usual, the Discovery writers decided to just sack off all that canon nonsense and do whatever the hell they wanted, which was to apparently write Season 6 of Andromeda)

I just watched the final episode of series 3 of Discovery.

I loved it. I thought the story of the frightened boy in the holodeck safehouse was great and the battle while a bit obvious wasn't terrible.
Best episode of Discovery so far.

I finished Discovery. I don't really like the show very much, but in an effort to annoy Hexx, I'll list a couple of positives:
* The best thing about the season was Booker. He was a cool, charming character with some depth to his storyline. He has a cute chubby cat. Big thumbs up from me.
* I quite liked the fight-y stuff in the last ep - entertaining high-budget action sequences!

I've enjoyed Discovery from the start, while acknowledging that it wasn't very good initially.

But it's gotten better over the past couple of seasons and I felt this one was consistently decent. It's not great, but I enjoy it.

That said, I do have some issues with the last episode.

Going by the big fight, Discovery is seemingly 99% Turbolift shaft in this episode. Seriously, it was like they were in a Borg Cube.

Stamets being the only person in the universe who can operate the spore drive has been a major plot element since the start. "Oh no! We don't have Stamets! How can we get out of here? Oh wait this guy here can do it, nevermind" It was an utter plot convenience that Booker could "talk to the animals" so he can work the spore drive. Load of pish.

Oh look they've got lots of Robot helpers, surely they'll be a big part of getting the ship back. Oh no, they all got shot within minutes apart from one that pops up out of nowhere to save the girl who can hold her breath for ten minutes.

Needing to go to the Nacelle to knock them out of warp. They were in main engineering and there wasn't anything else they could unplug or turn off? Nope lets have a contrived journey to the nacelle (Which we shall all go on, wasting precious oxygen).

Stuff with Saru, Adira, Gray and Hugh was good though. Wondering what's going to happen with Saru next season.

I'm looking forward to seeing what happens going forward.
Discovery being on the "Federation is back bitches! Have some Dilithium!" tour next season would be a good way to make it a bit more classic trek in feel, especially with the TNG and TOS music being used at the end of this.

Pretty much agree with Devlin on this one. Much improved third season, I’ve quite enjoyed Disco all the way through while recognising that it’s nowhere near top tier Star Trek, and I thought there were a few things about the finale that were just a wee bit too contrived to say “that was brilliant.”

We finally finished our watch-through of all the contemporary Star Trek series, finishing up with Enterprise.

I will say: I was pleasantly surprised with that series. It starts poorly, but which Trek show doesn't?, but by the time it hit the ending of the Xindi arc it was genuinely gripping. The characters were great for the most part, the stand-outs being T'Pol and Phlox, and the series finale Terra Nova finally gave us that "no stop looking at your phone this is really good" episode. Such a shame it only came at the very end and that there definitely wasn't a shockingly ill-judged finale which was one of the biggest slaps in the face I've ever seen. So glad that didn't happen.

SO. Ranking time.*

DS9>TNG>>>>>VOY=ENT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>PICARD

We tried a few eps of TOS, The Cage and The Man Trap and weren't getting into it so we switched to the movies. The Motion Picture was just as strawberry floating boring as I remembered. We'll probably intersperse those with getting the third season of Discovery watched.

*IMO Discovery doesn't belong here at all as it's just so completely separate from the others.

The Motion Picture is strawberry floating dull. This is correct.

Enterprise really does have an undeserved reputation as the worst Trek series.

It was getting better with every series and I think could have done some really good things if they stuck with it.

I like it more than Voyager in all honesty. Although they do shout at T'Pol quite a bit. Stupid strawberry floating humans.

Wow that's an impressive pace you've gone at there Taf! My Trek rewatch is still only up to the first season of DS9 at this point, which is about as mixed as I recall it being so far.

I'm really looking forward to how I find DS9 now, I've only ever watched it all through once courtesy of a bunch of CD's full of DivX files borrowed from a friend at school back in around the year 2000. Those were the days!

I like TMP.
Yes, it's slow but I like that sometimes.
V'Ger is a solid concept but I am annoyed that some people think it's got something to do with The Borg as that just makes no sense to me.
V'Ger is way more advanced than the Borg and just doesn't seem to have anything in common with them.

I'm close to the end of DS9. The last season isn't as consistently good as seasons 4-6 IMO, but I'm still enjoying it. I feel like Vic Fontaine is really starting to overstay his welcome though.

The thing that annoys me about Voyager is the almost total lack of character advancement.
Then there's the fact that the ship that 90k light years from home is always like new after getting blasted in the previous episode or crew members who've just had experiences that would cause ptsd in 99% of people just turn up for work the next day as if they'd just come back from a holiday.

I like Vic but he was in an awful lot of episodes when I think about it.

I wonder if he's the most regular guest star in the franchise?

Just watched the first ep of Discovery s3

That was an ugly, ugly episode of TV. Just about salvaged itself at the end, but the whole thing looked like someone forgot to adjust the contrast properly.
