JD Dillard reportedly signed on to direct a Star Wars movie in 2019. I don't know if he really did or not, because I didn't hear about it until recently, but whatever he's working on, if anything (there are rumors of Old
and High Republic movies now in development) might be what's coming in place of Rogue Squadron.
If not him, then it might have switched spots with Taika's movie, which may be further in development.
This all assumes that there is a plan to fill the vacancy with another SW film, of course.
If you're looking for a squadron-based good time in the meantime, the Alphabet Squadron book trilogy is absolutely outstanding and a must read/listen. I have high hopes that some of its characters will Cobb Vanth their way into the New Republic era shows, ideally Rangers of the New Republic, if it isn't dead forever.
Also, Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil is about to release.
