Yea I'm sure glad that didn't happen.

They'd have backed it up with some top-class exposition.

Disney's fiscal fourth quart is jul-sept.

Also I've just read that Rogue Squadron is delayed with no release date given :(

Disney need to get their star wars movie division back on track. Although their are rumours of a different star wars film starting filming next year.

JD Dillard reportedly signed on to direct a Star Wars movie in 2019. I don't know if he really did or not, because I didn't hear about it until recently, but whatever he's working on, if anything (there are rumors of Old and High Republic movies now in development) might be what's coming in place of Rogue Squadron.

If not him, then it might have switched spots with Taika's movie, which may be further in development.

This all assumes that there is a plan to fill the vacancy with another SW film, of course.

If you're looking for a squadron-based good time in the meantime, the Alphabet Squadron book trilogy is absolutely outstanding and a must read/listen. I have high hopes that some of its characters will Cobb Vanth their way into the New Republic era shows, ideally Rangers of the New Republic, if it isn't dead forever.

Also, Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil is about to release. :toot:

Obi-Wan Kenobi Leaked Sizzle Reel & Concept Art

Spoilering the artwork because who the hell knows how much of it made it in, but I don't want to ruin it for anyone who wants to go in green. One image per box. Yes I know the video has one of the images, but, it's not too bad.

A little something for old-school fans. Ian Boldsworth (of ParaPod infamy) has hand-drawn the original 12 Star Wars figures and had some 85cm-long prints made up. Now up for sale for a very reasonable £18.

The first episode reminded me of A Man called Horse.

How he got out of the Sarlacc pit was a nice touch.

I'm looking forward to episode 2.

Best thing was the Rex (from Star Tours, not Clone Wars) cameo.

Was alright, though. Trust Jon Favreau to put in a suit-assembly scene

Great first episode, really enjoyed it.

The memories of Kamino and Geonosis were a nice touch and great connective tissue. Hope to see them keep going.

Actual lol moment with the helmet cleaning and bribe stuff, and the "no hard feelings" line with the dog thing.

As amazing as the books are, there's almost none of those little comic relief moments that make Star Wars really wonderful - the only standout one I can think of was when Thrawn and Anakin are arguing about the pronunciation of Thrawn's full name. It's just nice to see them remain strong in the visual media.

Great action, felt like a mash up of classic Japanese cinema and early Star Trek, but with those little Star Wars twists.

Another wonderful thing:

Now, people with chronic illness, chronic pain, mental illness, who have to go home early, who need to rest, have a badass character they can identify with. strawberry float yeah, representation!

Yup. Not a huge role, but likely to be recurring. He's the narrow-faced droid announcing visitors to Fett. Same droid we saw in RotJ torturing a poor Gonk by frying its feet.

I enjoyed the first episode of Bobba, was just saying to my partner I think Star Wars is really lent well to a series as they can tell much longer stories and backgrounds as opposed to 90 minutes in film. It's going to be difficult to make it stand out from the Mandalorian though.

A lot of shitty articles about the opening episode, complaining it was "filler", acting surprised that the show is structured like it takes place within a larger narrative, or some racist bullshit from the NY Times about Temeura Morrison showing his face (how dare a PoC actor show himself in polite society!), or some other shitty takes about Boba being made weak. :fp:

Did they think it was going to be non stop action with an invincible death lord from start to finish? Do they not understand that world building and character development exist? Have they not encountered Star Wars before?

This gooseberry fool's going to happen all over again when Andor launches, too. :fp:

It's like, Space Sopranos vs Space Road to Perdition. There's some overlap, but they're going in different directions.

Some characters I expect to see in Boba Fett over time:

Bossk, C-21 Highsinger, Cad Bane, Cobb Vanth, Dengar, Embo, Qi'ra, Rotta the Hutt.

I’ll chip in, I was completely unimpressed with the first episode plus I thought the acting was way off!

Thought the first episode of Boba Fett was pretty poor. This Disney Star Wars stuff is just so strawberry floating bland. Story beats just seem to plod on without ever inducing any real emotional engagement. I mean look at Jabba's palace in ROTJ; absolutey dripping with atmosphere from the first moment we see it. Here it's just presented so mundanely and matter-of-factly. About as atmospheric as call cente office.
