Brilliant news, just watched The Mandelorian finale today and it was great. That is how you add comedy in Star Wars.

This is when the fun begins.

Now, could we please get a clear answer on Rian Johnson? I'm really hoping his Star Wars project(s) is still going ahead but we've heard nothing.

Awesome, we might get another great star wars film to go along with rogue one :datass:

Watching Rise of Skywalker again.

I seem to remember liking this. But 20 minutes in and it’s so strawberry floating dumb

Knives Out 2: The Last Detective

Benoit Blanc is transported through a portal to the world of Star Wars. His mission? Investigate the death of the Chief Wookiee. Was it Chewbacca or that bitch Rose?

THE DEAD SPEAK!

8 seconds in to the film and I did a real life facepalm :dread:

Switched it off because it was so awful, the dialogue is miserable.

- Give Leia my love
- You should give it to her yourself

The sentiment is fine, but it all feels so clumsy and unnatural.

I’m sure at one point the First Order wasn’t some benny hill organising stumbling around the galaxy like Mr Magoo and actually seemed threatening.

Star Wars is so crap.

Yeah that was gooseberry fool, stark contrast to the first mention of Luke Skywalker in the crawl for TFA which gave me goosebumps.

I still don't think it beats TLJ in the cringe stakes, that has a couple of the worst scenes in the entire series.

So, is this expected to be a single film or the start of a new multi-film story?

I watched the Rise of Skywalker for the second time last night, too :dread:

There's so much wrong with it it just boggles the mind how anyone working on it thought "yeah, this is a fitting end to the forty year franchise"

Death Star weapons on Star Destroyers :fp:
strawberry floating Beaumont Kin :x
The Wayfinder :dread:
"Lightspeed skipping" :dread:

Every single fakeout death :fp: The scene on Passanna is genuinely like an "oh damn did they really" and then not five minutes later it's "oh no they didn't"

I really really hate how JJ and the cast were like "oh yeah it's great to get the trio on screen for the first time the gang is together" and they spend almost all of the time they're together falling out. The first real interaction you get between Poe and Rey is them butting heads. Poe spends the whole film bitching that Finn has secret things to tell Rey (which, staggeringly, he never does! How was that not picked up before they released it?)

God. I'd love to know who was actually responsible for strawberry floating it up so badly. Trying to fit in so much Leia after she'd died was never going to go well, but there's so much more wrong with it.

It got me wondering if you could do what that guy did with the Hobbit films and recut it to get something decent out of it. Take the three totally disconnected films and edit it down into maybe two films that actually told a story. But then watching Skywalker, there's so much that has no payoff whatsoever. Finn's Stormtrooper uprising ends up being some strawberry floating stupid ground-assault-on-a-star-destroyer bullshit? The only time he shows he's force sensitive is when Rey dies (and then doesn't?) Like they were obviously going for an Endgame with the hideous "I am all the sith" nonsense, but a throwback to the Force Awakens forest fight ripping off Endgame's Mjolnir moment with Finn taking the saber and actually holding his own would have been loads more interesting (and would have actually had some semblance of character development lol).

But how would you structure the film? I sort of thought you could have like a Snoke-villain film (obvs finishing with the TLJ Rey/Kylo fight), and then a Palpatine-villain film so it seems a little less shoehorned in. But I'd probably cut *all* of the Exegol star destroyer battle out. Just straight up bullshit. (maybe even just have the final space battle being Starkiller base rather than THE FINAL ORDER). It's kinda something I want to have a go at, but I'm awful at video editing :slol: and it probably wouldn't make the blindest bit of sense.

And I still don't understand why Palpatine had some enormous arena built so all his little indoctrinated nobodies could watch Rey kill him. Who thought that made sense?

Also why was there no force ghost kylo at the end?

I'll admit I only watched Rise of Skywalker for the first time the other night. Managed to avoid most spoilers.

The opening crawl :fp:
Definitely "strawberry float you, we can't spend an hour explaining how the Emporer came back, we only got two and a half hours"

Landing the Falcon next to that massive Desert Festival of Colour and only noticing it when they walk over the ridge of the hill - surely they'd have seen it way before they even landed.

The knife lining up perfectly with the death Star :fp:

Leia's death was maximum bullshit.
It was pretty much "Hey, I know how to help turn the tide of this war!"
Image

Luke appearing out of nowhere to catch the Lightsaber  :fp:

Couple of good things though:
  • Lando in the pilot seat of the Falcon again
  • Babu Frik

... actually, that's about the only good bits.

That would be good, you could start it with Kylo looking for the Emperor so it actually makes sense and have him tell Kylo to wipe out the Resistance to avenge Vader.

I get people not liking TRoS but I don't understand how anyone can think this yet still think TLJ is not only good but one of the best Star Wars films. I know it became 'internet cool' to like it but it has all the same problems.
