Just finished Mando S2 finally. Thought it was brilliant once it got going, better than S1. Final episode was well done although very fan servicey (I think it just about held up and they probably earned that moment even if the cgi got very ropey) but I think the high was episode 7. Bill Burr was somehow the best part of the whole show which is quite funny as I think he has a whole stand up routine on how much he hates Star War :slol:

Question, do I need to watch The Book of Boba Fett before S3? I've heard I do but I've started episode 1 and it's abit...meh so far.

Boba is very much a slow burner, episodes 1-3 especially. I really enjoyed 4, adored 5, really enjoyed 6 and 7. I’d say you definitely need to watch it before series 3 of Mando though.

Yeah, Book of Boba Fett - at least the second half, feels absolutely necessary owing to the developments of Mando's story that take place within it. Though I imagine the major beats of such will be shown in a recap at the start of season 3.

Book of Boba Fett is basically Mando S3.

Favreau described it as Mando S2.5.

It's disappointing that he didn't have the confidence in the strength of Boba's character and story to let his show just be his show. We could've had a full season of "Boba of Arabia", and a second season of him being pulled by events away from that life.

Favreau could've easily avoided fridging the entire indigenous tribe - which seems like a horribly disrespectful thing to make a BIPOC actor walk through the aftermath of. It's a very strange thing for Favreau to do after what had previously been some unexpected but welcome indigenous representation.

Was he that impatient to tie Boba's and Din's stories together so quickly? Was he that disinterested in Boba and the Tuskens?

He also could've taken the time to develop Fennec Shand as a character, developed the Mods (with Shand becoming like their badass mother hen), Mos Espa, Santo, Cad Bane could've had a great villain arc lasting a full season or more. All building to a frought climax that, perhaps once again, changes the arc of Boba's life - or propels him to becoming an interplanetary problem.

I like Book of Boba Fett a lot, but good lord, it could have been — and could yet be, if they pursue additional seasons! — so much more.

I mean, there's an entire episode of Book of Boba Fett where Boba Fett literally doesn't appear once

And it was one of the better ones. Not good for a show about boba to be more compelling without him.

As Alvin noted it's probably more like Mando 2.5. And for me, this interconnectedness with The Mandalorian is the only reason this show is worth a moment of anyone's time. I thought it was absolutely dreadful; especially the Rodriguez-directed episodes. Along with the Holiday Special and The Rise of Skywalker, this must be the worst live-action Star Wars ever released.

What I found odd about it was it felt like as they were making it they realised it wasn't turning out well so decided to bring Mando in to fix it.

The product of a writers' room that consists just of Jon Favreau, I suspect.

I'm sure he's a great guy, but, the writers rooms of Mandalorian and Boba Fett are just an absolute desert of diversity, lacking any kind of alternate POVs or pushback that could inform much richer, more intelligent storytelling.

Halfway through Tales of the Jedi, really enjoying it so far, great seeing more Dooku.

Edit, on to episode 5 now and this is great, really enjoyed episode 4 with Dooku’s breaking point being the death of Qui-Gon and the fight between Dooku and Yaddle being very similar to the fight between Dooku and Yoda in Attack of the Clones

I have watched Visions recently as well but found that very average, some episodes being far better than others.

4 episodes in to the Book of Boba Fett and I am in utter shock. The actress playing Fennec is 58? What the actual strawberry float. She could easily pass for late 20s!

I'm 6 episodes in now and it definitely is

They just couldn't call it that because they wanted to spend the first 4 episodes on Boba Fett and everyone would have kicked off asking where Mando was.

Also, episode 5 was brilliant :datass:

Bad Batch season two has premiered with two episodes, and I'm all about it.

The show has received a lovely visual upgrade, and the music is quality, but the story's pretty standard fare - Cid's got a big job for the crew, they get to it, things get messy, we go on. Nothing very out of the ordinary... except the target.

But, for being a bit predictable, it's still well done - the writing is good (only one instance of characters doing a dumb thing for the sake of moving the plot along :shifty: ), the dialogue and interpersonal dynamics are top notch as usual. Honestly, it's a tightly constructed opener. I'm pleased.

I just wish the rest of the season were delivered in two episode batches, together or a couple of days apart.
