I've never seen the guy in anything before but he really is awesome and I can't think of anyone suitable for a recast.

I highly recommend the TV series Rome. He's brilliant in that.

I had no idea he had died this year. That's a real shame, he's great in this role. Definitely the most intriguing character who is clearly supposed to play a big part. Is it confirmed that the character even makes it to the end of the series though as everyone is talking about a recast?

No clue, he might get offed in the finale for all we know.

Doesn't seem like he's going anywhere for now, though, so recast talk is becoming a bit more prominent.

Imagine my surprise to learn that Claudia Black and Wes Chatham were in this last episode! :o She's the head Nightsister and he's Enoch.

Absolutely wonderful episode this week, so much fun, genuinely funny or just all around a joy at times.

The courtroom intro was interesting - Mon Mothma as Chancellor, Hera getting a sassy jibe or two in, C-3P0 coming in to save the day on Leia's behalf. I figure we aren't seeing her out of respect for the Fisher family? Or they're saving her for later.

Ahsoka's intro too was a lot of fun, Anakin's training holo surprising and delighting in equal measure. Hayden is

The potato bug caravan is adorable.

Ahsoka communing with Sabine through the Force was a great moment, ESB vibes.

Thrawn has been really good so far, watching him in live action is a thing I didn't expect to ever see. His surprised recognition of Anakin's name brightened my soul.

All our heroes are a goddamn delight. Ezra and Sabine's dynamic is so much fun, old school Ahsoka is fully back, and Huyang is fantastically well played.

Baylan, Shin and the mounted mercenaries were giving strong Lord of the Rings vibes - the Orcs and Wargs from Fellowship.

Baylan's plan continues to mystify. What's the strawberry floater doing? Ray's performance was great again, very intrigued.

So, yeah, lots of fun this week, next week's going to be a wild time. I really hope the strikes are resolved because this show needs a second season.

They’ve struck a provisional deal to end the strikes, that’s been backed by all the unions. I think I read the strikes now end and the members get to vote on the deal so in theory they go back to work for the time being.

I haven’t watched the episode yet so I haven’t opened your spoiler box

Catching up with Ahsoka so slowly I've had to basically block every Star Wars fansite on twitter for fear of spoilers :slol: Watched episode 4 last night. It was pretty impossible to miss the hype around episode 5, so I kinda knew where it was going to end up.

Baylan is such a good bad guy :datass: He's got such a physicality in the lightsaber battles

I was 100% sure that Marrok was going to end up being Kanan somehow, too. There goes that theory!

I do wonder how much of this is being lost on people who haven't already invested in Rebels and stuff. I'm expecting episode 5 to go full-on fanservice, but I guess we'll see. It's interesting to see them leaning so much into the logistics of hyperspace with this, too - Like in the vast majority of the main films (I suppose discounting the Exegol hop-hop-hop bit in Rise of Skywalker), they never really explain it, it's just "calculate" > point > arrive, while so much of the Clone Wars was spent explaining how they had to set up the hyperspace lanes through various systems.

The whole physical map to extract where the Purrgill would have leapt to at the end of Rebels feels like Death Star dagger level nonsense, though. Does make me wonder why they didn't just have it so Thrawn found his own way back - He's this master strategist, he can't have just been sitting there twiddling his thumbs for a decade.

I like how much there is that's like... similar but different, too - All the shots of the hyperspace ring looming over the planet :datass: It's reminiscent of the Death Star but it stands out by not just being "another big-ass stupid planet superweapon", and then it blasting through Phoenix Squadron :dread:

I was expecting Zeb to show up in that squad, tbf, considering he's been shown hanging out with Carson Teva in the Mandalorian. Probably for the best he didn't, though

I saw that the board of the WGA has agreed to some kind of deal, which is great news - hopefully it's a deal that's good for the rank and file. SAG-AFTRA fights on, though, so here's hoping the AMPTP capitulates utterly. I have heard from Adam Conover's strike updates that there is a good amount dissent within the studios' ranks.

How'd you quote me without seeing behind the veil? Not to worry, I've changed the spoiler in this post.

Another fantastic episode. Gonna be a long week for that finale. It's going to be ending strong. No chance that it doesn't.

Was tempted to leave episode 7 till maybe Monday or Tuesday next week so I didn’t have as long to wait for the final episode, but just going to watch it now before I see any spoilers.

Edit, another superb episode, finale should be equally amazing.

Good episode. It seems theres alot to do in the final episode - anyone know the runtime? Given that they cant possibly tie up all loose ends, has S2 been announced?

EDIT Hayden Christensen in by far the two best rated episodes so far.

Looking good so far.
But...

There was something off during the "chase" sequence with the merc and Ezra and Sabine. I can't even put my finger on it, but I think I was annoyed that this guy is supposed to be Jedi or something yet instead of doing anything he focused intently on driving the "car" in a straight line in the large open area they were in, rather than say to Sabine "gonna drive and I'll deal with these guys".

Also his style involves pushing and pulling people? Great, he's a kid in the playground. That'll be handy against the Imperials.
Meh. I don't know why, but I just found him annoying. I mean, THIS is the guy she sold out the Galaxy for?
I assume he's better in Rebels.
I don't know. I just found that whole section a bit weird.

But otherwise I loved it.

Ezra isn't some cool guy, action hero. He's always been a scrappy, young kid whs optimism and selflessness pushed those around him to be better. Kanan helped focus his energy during their time together and he ultimately sacrificed himself to save the galaxy. Now he's older, wiser and more mindful, he was never going to explode into scene in a hail of lasers and explosions. Not gonna lie, it would be cool to see him wield a saber in the finale but I think his martial arts combat focus was really perfect.

I guess in summary; it's never been about saving a legendary hero to protect the galaxy, the quest to find Ezra was far more personal than that.

Absolutely fantastic again. Amazing how much better the star wars tv shows are than the sequel films. I really wish they could just wipe the sequels from cannon.

I wonder how the sequels will be looked at in 15-20 years time.

The prequels were detested for so long, but now seem to be looked on fondly.

I can't imagine that could possibly happen with Rise of Skywalker though.

That reminds me, I liked the subtle reference to THAT gooseberry fool line from the sequel trilogy.
