Yet Vader managed it in Rogue One?

Vader is still highly capable from a physical standpoint in the OT era, I mean he's only in his 40s, but his days of leaping about with a bottomless well of energy as a young Jedi are obviously far behind him.

No matter his basic physical condition, though, he's still incredibly strong in the Force, and a highly skilled swordsman to boot. I don't doubt that he'd still be capable of fighting as in the fan video, but it'd probably be against some other Force user past his or her prime, rather than his old master.

The Obi-Wan fight we got was never intended to be a climactic physical confrontation - the closest we'll get to that are two, maybe three battles in particular from the Rebels animated show.

Johnson was great, and is still getting his own trilogy; there's zero evidence he's been gotten rid of. His trilogy will probably release around 2030.

The 2022, 2024, and 2026 release dates are all allegedly going to be the trilogy from Game of Thrones showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, according to sources close to the matter.

The presence of a new wave of Sith is built up in the first film, shown in the second and done away with in the opening text crawl of the third. The rest of the last film is a veiled analogy of how colonialism was good actually.

Ron Howard has blamed the disappointing box office of Solo: A Star Wars Story on an online trolling campaign.

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the film’s director said that, while he noticed “pushback” from the previous Star Wars film, The Last Jedi, he felt “aggressive trolling” was a crucial factor.

“It was pretty interesting,” Howard said. “It was especially noticeable prior to the release of the movie. Several of the algorithms, whether it was Metacritic or Rotten Tomatoes, there was an inordinate push down on the ‘Want to see’ [score on Rotten Tomatoes] and on the fan voting.”

On its release in May 2018, Solo – a standalone “anthology” Star Wars film filling in the backstory of Han Solo – underperformed at the box office, with a global take of $393m (£310m), well below the $1.06bn of the Franchise’s previous anthology film, Rogue One, released in 2016. Industry commentators largely ascribed its failure to “franchise fatigue”, with Disney CEO Bob Iger admitting the company had made a mistake in releasing Solo only six months after The Last Jedi.

Review aggregator sites such as Rotten Tomatoes have been the focus of negative campaigning, with The Last Jedi targeted – as also happened with Black Panther and Ghostbusters – by trolls attempting to lower its scores. Howard said that “friends in Silicon Valley had explained” to him what the pattern of voting meant. In 2019, Rotten Tomatoes announced it was adjusting its site rules after a barrage of negative comments for Captain Marvel, prior to the film’s release.

No user reviews are currently available on the film’s Rotten Tomatoes site, while Metacritic’s users rate it at 6.2, compared to 7.6 for Rogue One.

While I didn't hate Solo it wasn't a very good film.

I think people just hope for better from such a much loved franchise and I don't see criticism as any more unacceptable than when a gooseberry fool Star Trek film pops up and gets mauled.

Solo was mediocre at best, with plenty of cringeworthy moments, but I think Howard is blaming the wrong people there.

I don’t know what the marketing spend for Solo was like compared to Rouge One but it seemed to me like Disney sent it out to die in some respects. I agree the release date timing wasn’t great after The Last Jedi but as well as that, i don’t feel they really pushed it that hard. There was no big drive marketing drive, it kinda felt like they knew they were releasing another sub par Star Wars film that would annoy the fanbase so didn’t want to waste anymore money on it.

This is super interesting: Disney's new Star Wars theme park contains a remnant from Colon Treverrow's cancelled Episode IX

I don't see any reason why the Echelon couldn't be incorporated into IX, or Resistance.

We'll see. But I'm doubtful. IX has gone through at least 3 iterations now (Treverrow, Johnson did a pass, now finally Abrams) and if that ship was created for a specific sequence or even just for the theme park I doubt it'll make it in.

It's a new TIE design, sitting right there, waiting to be used. Even if it isn't used in the scene it was originally intended to fit into, I'm certain it'll see use eventually, if only as a cameo. I mean, it's basically canon anyway.

Logically? Yes. But director trend to be...autuers. Usually when ideas are abandoned they aren't reused as they don't fit in with the new director's vision. This ship was created, as far as we know, for the theme park by the designers Treverrow was using. Abrams will be using a different team and there's a fair chance that ship won't fit with his vision of IX.

There are rumours he completely rejected all of Johnson's suggestions for the film, so I can't see him keeping anything from Treverrow's treatment.

EDIT: Reading around a bit you might be right. I suppose we'll see!

I think that, even if Abrams is all, "strawberry float that noise," about the new TIE, there's every chance we could see it show up in Resistance, or some other show or comic set in the new era.

Someone will use it, even if Abrams won't.

It's not a big deal anyway.

Advance release images of Episode IX's figures are in the wild.

I've seen one, a new Stormtrooper variant, and the headline for the other.

Gonna be tough to remain spoiler free.

It's more that

this all but confirms the actual return of Palpatine rather than having him return in flashbacks and the like.

I have no idea how they could possibly handle that satisfactorily
