If you don't find Solo a disappointment then you're a disappointment.

@Taf
New Hope is boring and slow? I think that may have finally rendered me speechless?
You cite Rogue one but a huge part of Rogue one's appeal is because it leads up to the start of New hope and fleshes out a lot of its content. It's the first film - it needs to set up so much. I'm stunned by that description.
The ewoks are divisive I get that. But Jabba's palace section unnecessary? As opposed to the visit to the casino planet? With the wonderful creatures racing through it?
They went there to rescue Han. It's their obvious first intention leading on from ESB. It establishes and showcases Luke's confidence and new skills and sets up the rest of the film. If I didn't know better I'd guess your objections are because Leia is in a skimpy outfit.
Oh and you do know that Jenuall endorsing your view on films is not a good sign don't you? That man's taste is dogshit.

Solo was actually good.
And I agree with Denster. Jabba’s Place is important as Jabba is mentioned in Ep 4 for god’s sake, and Han was taken to Jabba in ep5 and you expect our heroes to leave him there for the whole of ep6? Madness.

ANH could have used more contemporary humour and slap stick comedy.

Opinions are opinions are opinions. All the first three are good in their own way but, minus the nostalgia factor, Empire is the only one of them that holds up as an almost flawless sci-fi classic to be placed alongside films like 2001 and Alien.
EDIT: And Solo was bad. Not prequel bad, but bad.

I have to confess - I still haven't seen Solo.

I need to see it again really as I was sort of half watching it but I think that says enough. The story is fine, but the characters are boring af and Emilia Clarke is way, way out of her depth with a character that changes personality every other scene (both the writer's fault for the poor portrayal and Clarke's for being wooden af and completely unbelievable as a distinct character). Also it does the thing where every single strawberry floating thing in the film needs to play into previously establish lore. It's incredibly tedious.

Yeah, a lot of the references to the original trilogy lore are really lame.

I watched Solo on a plane. It was fine.
Taf do you believe that TLJ is in the level of Alien and 2001 given that you think it's the equal of ESB?
I get liking the much needed injection originality that TLJ brings to the series but there are four or five scenes that are either outright bad or completely at odds tonally with the original trilogy that I cant fathom how someone could rate on par with the best of the bunch.

Emilia Clarke was rubbish, but the rest were better than I thought. Especially Lando.
And the twist at the end was something I wasn’t expecting!

That's my take. Loved Last Jedi but not to that degree.

My ranking had them as the same as I simply can't choose between them. ESB is so couched in nostalgia for me that viewing it completely objectively as a work of film is impossible. I rate TLJ so highly because for the first time since ESB it attempted to expand what Star Wars could be. Is it perfect? Heck no. Is it what the series needed? I think so. It's also a strawberry floating great film and the scenes people have issues with...I don't, or at least not at the level that's common out there. Apart from the usual contrivances*, there's nothing there that breaks the spell

Well, at the time we thought The Last Jedi would expand on the answers to a lot of those questions which it obviously didn’t do.
So TLJ was so bad it made TFA worse

And yet I agree with all this as well.
This is what makes my blood boil about next months film.
