I have no idea how they could possibly handle that satisfactorily

BUT THE COLOUR TAF! THE USE OF COLOUR!

(Sorry I'm only ribbing you about your love of TLJ and one thing you used to defend it. Because I'm scared of how this will go. Hold me? )

Google hasn't returned anything other than reversing a lot of the crap Johnson did.

Palpatine returning can't really be done any worse than it was in the old EU, and I have a feeling they'll tie it into how Maul survived rather than this being a clone or something.

But yeah, they can't really do any worse than the old EU did. I know I'm not the best person to be saying that considering I never read any of it that came after Return of the Jedi, but even just a look at some of the stuff on Wookieepedia, it sounds too convoluted of an era with just so much "what?" happening. I can see them working this particular point better, just as they did with the Death Star plans [where it seemed that everyone within the old EU got a piece of that action].

My theory:

The fall didn't kill him. Foreseeing his impending "death," he used some arcane Sith ritual to jump his life force into a waiting host half a galaxy away, where, as Snoke, he eventually rallied the splintering Imperial remnant, reorganizing it into the First Order and all that.

Foreseeing Snoke's end, he then made ready to jump his life force into another being, which was going to be Kylo, but became Rey.

Maybe I'm right, maybe not. :simper:

Couple of neat videos I thought you guys would like:

This one fascinates me - could Disney digitally morph Ehrenreich into a young Ford in future revisions of Solo? I feel like Lucas probably would, if he had his way, and I think fans of the OT would be down with it.

I love that the OG Star Destroyer design has been re-entered into the canon, albeit in a purely cameo form (for now). I would love for this update of the first "proper" Star Destroyer to be drafted in as well.

If Palpatine's back. As in he survived the end of Jedi then im seriously considering not seeing this. It shows a complete lack of originality and willingness to build on the positives of the last film. Although its biggest crime is it badly damages the ending of Jedi the original trilogy and the whole redemptive arc of Vader.

Hey, at least it's not clones of Palpatine reappearing every few years like what seemed to happen in the old EU, and there's a chance they could actually build this into something good.

Yeah, I'd take literally anything else over what IX appears to be, but as long as we don't have another film of nothing but cat and mouse, I'm fine with it.

I watched the first of the sequels and the spin-off films and while they weren't terrible they weren't good.
Disney really hasn't done a good job with a franchise with such possibilities but to be fair Star Trek films haven't been much better either.

I wouldn't go quite so far, but if it's true it sounds lazy as strawberry float.

Wasn't Palpatine's return in the Dark Horse comics widely regarded as a masterful storyline? :shifty:

Until we know more it would probably be best to hold off on the criticism. Worry, sure, do that.

Neat rundown of the difference between the main Imperial Army and the Stormtrooper Corps.
