Yep, this is the least excited I have been about a mainline film too.

I think it's going to be an absolute mess, moreso if a lot of the speculation surrounding is true. It all sounds a bit like the old EU to me, and in my eyes, the bast majority of that read like bad fan fiction when it came to plotting and characters.

Same artist has also done ones for the other two trilogies in the same style...

Not got a lot of hope for Rise of Skywalker but hopefully going in with low expectations will be a good thing.

More examples in the comments.

Rose was one of the worst characters in a movie of terribly written characters - but to single her (maybe no one was buying Rose action figures, but to airbrush her out of group material? really/) out for this treatment given the backlash the actor faced (in large parts in no way related to the character but more unpleasant indiviudals opinions) feels like a bad move.

I thought her character was ok, her on screen sister did more in a few minutes than she did on 2 hours. However, in interviews, much like Daisy she comes across as charming and so happy to be doing star wars. Hopefully her next few films are great and she can get herself known for her talent and not just being in a few crap scenes in a average movie.

Wish my image sig would work

I'm definitely interested in how RoS will explain Sith Troopers, considering the Sith are extinct. Are they connected to Palpatine? Are they force sensitive? Why would they be loyal to Kylo and The First Order, a non Sith group? What's the connection?

Or are Disney just painting Stormtroopers red and calling them Sith (as opposed to Knights of Ren) to sell toys, which is the most likely explanation.

I'd like to believe otherwise, but yep it's going to about toys and nothing else.

Just thinking about it for a second, the very idea of "Sith Troopers" is ridiculous. We don't have Jedi Troopers, because that would be equally stupid. Who approved that decision? :fp:

Only just seen that tweet about Rose that Hexx linked above. strawberry floating ridiculous situation. Whether you liked her or not (I thought she was great) the way she has been treated both as a character in the franchise and the actress herself, is nothing short of a disgrace.

I really need to stop opening unmarked spoiler boxes

It's not your fault to expect there to be no spoilers in a thread that states " *No Spoilers* " in the title.

May as well edit the thread title nowadays...

There used to be a spoiler-friendly thread, and this was a safe zone for people who didn't want spoilers. Not sure what happened, tbh.

Sith Troopers have a standing in the old canon during the Old Republic era, but at least they had a unique look to them. And a solid reason for existing. It could be that these new Sith Troopers also have a good enough reason for existing, but it still won't stop it feeling as bad as the Maul-aligned Mandos changing their armour colour to red.
