Jesus Christ Moggy

Forget TLJ, AotC or anything else. Moggy is somehow but definitely the worst thing about Star Wars .

Edit - just read the translation and it's 100% Engrish but also pretty spot on, to be fair!

Be flippant all you want but it doesn't change it being one of the most unimaginative and boring set/location since SG1 went to the exact same Colorado forest like planet for the 187th time ;)

I haven't watched the download so I am not yet the worst thing about Star Wars. ;)

And going to "backwater sand world" for the umpteenth time is somehow more imaginative?

I didn't say it was?

Someone asked why that Canto Blight section was so badly thought off and one of the reasons I listed was "Looks very "earth like". Lazy and boring."

Two things can be bad? I'm not even sure what point you're trying to make now

I like the TLJ and I think the prank phone call is cringeworthy. It's definitely not as funny as TFA, which I rewatched back in 2017 and was surprised at how many jokes landed. The humour in TFJ isn't that bad but it definitely doesn't have the sharp lines of dialogue it's predecessor has.

Actually, I thought the opening to TLJ was fine. The bombing run is okay, the fallout and Rey's opening exchanges with Luke carry your attention. It's the middle third that drags. I was surprised at how quickly Rey leaves Luke in the Falcon (I remember it as being near the end but there must be at least an hour with no Luke).

The casino part actually felt quite short the first time around. They sort of land, go in, get captured and get out. It's the whole codebreaker plot in general to be honest - they should have scrapped Del Toro's shitty character and gone for another approach.

But, like all parts of TLJ, even though I don't like it, I can understand why it's there. And it's this, rather and subjective yardstick of "good" or "bad" I wonder about when I read criticism about it. The casino and ultimately traitorous codebreaker serve to show Finn something - namely the murkiness of the conflict, and how, at best, those in the casino are guilty of sallow complicit was or, at worst, how the self-serving needs and side-switching of DJ the codebreaker gets people killed at his whims. It's there to reinforce Finn finally steadfastingly picking a side.

The alien heads aren't part of the location though are they? It doesn't make it a good Star Wars location just by adding some aliens to it.

If they're going to do a Star Wars casino, I want it to be some weird and wonderful Star Wars version with lots of interesting things going on. A replica of an Earth casino isn't interesting...it's just dull and like Hexx said unimaginative.

One of the best Star Wars locations is the Mos Eisely cantina and that's just a bar with an alien jazz band

It was not to my taste, but I appreciate the opinions of those who liked it! :simper:

I tentatively liked it, but no more than that. It's got a multitude of issues, some of which are isolated within it and others that are because of the sequel trilogy in general.

One thing to potentially look forward is that the Skywalker saga is done. Finito. Closed off. Finished.

So those who really liked TLJ and it's attempt to do something different can look forward to movies that don't have any of the baggage of these 9 and can essentially do whatever they want.

They've essentially got a blank slate to work on and it'll be interested to see where they take it. There's nothing to say it needs to be set anywhere near these ones either. They could jump 1000 years in the future, or go 1000 years back to see the Old Republic.

Personally I want something that has absolutely no connection to the original saga whatsoever. All new characters, new situations and new stories.

You meant the moment that retroactively made every past Star Wars space battle make no sense, and that didn't even make sense in isolation (they had like three ships but waited until they had only the one left before hyperspace jumping it into the enemy... for reasons? They could have stopped the pursuit almost immediately with the same move and kept everyone safe on the other ships, rather than evacuating on tiny lifeboats)

We were in the exact same situation before this sequel trilogy tbf

Not quite. The sequel trilogy was always going to be completing George Lucas planned 9 episode epic. It was always going to be a continuation of the previous movies and follow on and "finish" that story which by necessity required it to be linked to that in some manner.

Now they may have bungled the conception and execution of that trilogy, but it is (For better or worse) a part of that 9 episode saga.

Whatever comes now has absolutely no-obligation to be linked to the existing storyline in anyway whatsoever.

EDIT: I would also say that they need to drop the "Episode" titles going forward as well.

I thought the 9 episode saga thing was just retroactively made up for marketing reasons. Wasn't aware that Lucas had planned for a sequel trilogy!

ROTJ wrapped everything up so they didn't need to continue on from it, but I get what you mean if that was always the intention.

Yep, that moment

Star Wars has tripped over itself so many times with continuity at this point, I'll take the fantastic cinematic moment instead.

:?:

They waited until the last moment for a variety of reasons... that are quite clear from the movie...

He's said over the years had always planned it out in his head as three trilogies. Of course he never knew if he would get to make any of them other than the middle one.
