I'd rather not do D&D. I had been looking at GURPS (my game of choice back in the day) but I'm aware the rules can seem daunting for new/casual players. I'm thinking maybe a sci-fi space opera game or a pseudo Japanese fantasy game.

I’ve started starfinder recently and it’s a good sci-fi setting. Lasers, aliens, spaceships, power armour, hacking etc. The system is more complicated than D&D 5e but it’s not wildly different. Space lizards, ratmen, psychic insects, androids... what’s not to love!

Android and Aliens is a good podcast that gives you a feel for it and is pretty funny too!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm going to give Starfinder a try. I've enjoyed Warhammer in the past but I'm wanting to do something a bit different from fantasy. I love the 2 D&D games I've been in and fancy running something a bit different. I've ordered Starfinder and should be getting it soon!.

I did make the mistake of accepting a load of GURPS 4e books for free and I'm tempted but I know the group probably won't take to it. And as much as I love the system I don't really have the time to do the custom settings I used to love creating back in 3e
