Fernandez is entitled to question the decision on the court if she’s not happy with it, telling a devastated eighteen year old to “suck it up” is a bit harsh whatever way you slice it.

Worth noting as well that at no time did Fernandez react angrily towards Raducanu herself, first thing she did at the end of the game was exchange a smile and a hug with her.

EDIT: Very crass reference to 9/11 from Fernandez for me but it got a massive pop from the crowd.

Had no idea a flippant comment about getting on with it would cause such a strawberry floating stir.

Entitled to question it perhaps but if it's a hard and fast rule then she did herself no favours by ranting about it, suspect she will learn from that.

Thank you Corazon. Common sense. An astonishing match between two future stars of women’s tennis. Neither player looked like they know how to give in! Both had great mental strength as much as their superstar skills! Really enjoyed that- brilliant match, two gracious players. Sport wins all round.

Literally what I said out loud word for word :slol:

Well, he won a bunch of ATP titles to be fair. Just no slams.

Was a right bitch of a question though!

Yeah, was a terrible question but Henman is getting done harshly here  He's got a Masters win which is pretty good, I think he's a player who actually had a good career compared to his ability, of the six grand slam semis he made it's only really the Ivanisevic semi-final where you'd say he probably should have gone the step further to the final.

Great final though and really chuffed for Raducanu, you would imagine both of these will go on to win slams throughout their career.

Blimey, $2.5 million.

Even Match of the Day said they were watching the tennis instead.

Sure, and the whole thing is a learning experience for both women. I think that if this were a 28 or 29 year old getting wound up and upset by the decision then I’d be a lot more critical of it but it’s not.

This is someone who is barely out of high school with *no* experience of the spotlight of major final tennis losing with such fine margins throughout the match, it’s understandable that her frustration boiled over at the end.

That’s generous of you. Let’s just enjoy a special moment in sport. Pretty sure these two will be around for a good while now.

No need to apologise man, you’re a good dude and it obviously wasn’t meant in a Piers Morgan way!

They should replay John McEnroe’s comments from Today at Wimbledon.

Lost ad revenue combined with whatever they’ve had to pay Amazon. Guess they’ll just have to suck it up.
