If he could have just isolated for 7 days and has refused to do so - that's pretty strawberry floating pathetic.

No care at all for the conditions refugees are kept in, just "oh but Novak is sooooo much more important than these scum".

Lock up the selfish anti-vax prick for 6 months.

It's worth noting of course that Novax can leave at any time. Unlike refugees fleeing political persecution.

And he will have been locked up for about 7 days anyway by the time his hearing happens! Had he applied for the correct strawberry floating visa form and not tried to grift a fake medical exemption, there'd be no issue.

He can't do that, they are going to crucify him, just like they did with Jesus :x

Ludicrous sentiments. He'll still be playing in the tournament though.

I liked Nadal's take on it. He expressed sympathy for Novak but said this was a completely avoidable situation if Novak had wanted it to be.

Medvedev said "If he had a fair exemption from the rule, well, he should be here; if he didn't, he shouldn't be here" which is entirely fair

It's going to be awkward when he wins it for his 21st Slam.

I predict more booing than when Osaka beat Williams in her first slam.

In an op ed for the news portal Iskra, reprinted by the pro-government tabloid Informer, the acclaimed Serbian film-maker Emir Kusturica argued Djokovic’s detention was “not just a lesson to the noble Serb”, but to everyone.

Kusturica said the “arrest of Novak Djokovic, first among the free, a rebel who does not want the chains of the new world and believes in a more just order” recalled the plot of a movie in which prominent citizens were arrested as a lesson to the rest.

Apparently Novax's exemption was granted because he had COVID as recently as mid-December. Which, per the government, does not qualify him for exemption.

That said, could he not just isolate now and get cleared to play? The tournament doesn't start until the 17th.

He's making himself a martyr because he's an anti-vaxxer.
