Victory for fifth seed Nadal avenged his semi-final defeat by Djokovic last year and extended his all-time record on the Roland Garros clay to 110 wins in 113 matches.

Bradman-esque.

Absurd stats.
His will to win is incredible.

4 sets and it was a cracker.
Shame it didn't go to a 5th.

Sadly missed the games yesterday.

Novak and Rafa class in their appraisals of the game and each other.
Djoko is my favourite and I believe the most complete player of all time but its Nadals sheer will to win and relentless aggression at Roland Garros.
Awesome display that last night. Novak will rue his missed chances. He might well end up rueing a lot more this season.
Pissed away the first major in ludicrous fashion and not good enough in the second.

Also he was odds on to win that US Open when he hit the lines woman with the ball and got disqualified. Guy's gotta be kicking himself if he ends up with fewer slams than Rafa.

Exactly. If it costs him the leading total he has no one to blame but himself.

I wouldn't (publicly) celebrate injuries for anyone else, but Zverev is a girlfriend-abusing POS so... it's all good.

Great tournament from Swiatek. Cant see anything but a win tomorrow. Should be a decent watch though.

My nerves are shot from 16 years of being a fan. Whatever Djokovic does from here, Rafa has done everything he possibly could, and more. I’d be fine with him retiring.

I love djokovic but if his own idiocy and behaviour means he doesn't catch Nadal - im good with that. Djokovic is the more complete player and he probably will overtake him but there's just something to admire about Nadal and his fierce will to win. He's a monster.

Well played Harmony Tan. The appallingly pro Serena BBC commentary team was an utter, utter embarrassment. They totally wrote Tan off after the second set. (The stut, stuttering picture was also shite, barely watchable tbh - didn't see any recognition/apology of this by the BBC...) Tan stuck to her game and was the worthy winner. Truly great match but why the total Serena bias I don't know....

She was brilliant. Always love to see Serena lose.

Raducanu out. Not unexpected considering how stop/start things have been for her since the US Open.

Too many Vogue photoshoots, clearly

I'm guessing it has to be related to her physical problems - she was barely plonking the ball back into the middle of the court most shots and was swatted aside by Garcia very easily. I know she had a side strain a few weeks back.

It's all a bit of a shame really. It's just been one injury setback after another. That player who demolished the field at the US Open is hopefully still in there somewhere.

EDIT: Murray currently getting shafted by Isner, 2 sets down. :dread:

The US Open win could honestly be seen as a bit of a freak occurrence given she didn't have to face a top ten seeded player at all so it's arguably a good idea to treat her chances of winning further Grand Slams as unlikely at this stage of her career.

Cilic, Berretini, and now RBA out with covid. That's two former runners-up and a former semi-finalist.

How close are they to a really strawberry floated up tournament, and how much longer will self-testing and self-reporting remain a viable policy?
