You know the style is an intentionally heightened parody of American soaps, right?

Also David Lynch.

The pilot made me laugh out loud several times. There's no way to watch it without realising the whole thing is a massive pisstake of American serialised television. Also, a strawberry floating good murder mystery.

Fire Walk with Me was good although I can see why it's so divisive. I think I prefer Moira Kelly as Donna.

The Missing Pieces was an enjoyable curio, definitely worth checking out.

Tineash wrote:I just finished reading The Secret History of Twin Peaks. It's absolutely barking mad, simultaneously trashy and brilliant (just like the series). It weaves a sort of Grand Unified Theory of the history of the North American paranormal and conspiratorial encompassing Lewis & Clark, Illuminati vs Masons, indian curses, the bohemian grove, Lemurians, JFK, pulp sci-fi magazines of the 40s, Nixon, bigfoot, Roswell, and L Ron Hubbard! The most startling thing is how often I'd google something that sounded outlandish and discover that it was based in true events. It was clearly researched with deep love for the subject.

The reviews on Amazon were very mixed, but I loved it!

I ordered this after finishing Fire Walk with Me at the weekend and Amazon Prime sent it today. I love the presentation to it with the fake newspaper articles and document excerpts. It's really well put together.

Had some time to digest the first two episodes (or one feature length episode)

We are all in for a special treat

The first four episodes are available as apparently Showtime put them on its digital service.

Juat watched the feature-length intro, its kept the weirdness despite the massive gap. I don't want to sound elitist or wanky, but i'm glad its a direct continuation with no recap or anything; if you haven't seen the original series i would say do not watch this, it will make zero sense.

When Frost and Lynch have to make a character say, 'James (Hurley) has always been cool,' you know for sure that he isn't. :D Hurley is one of the limpest TV characters of all time.

However, episodes 1 and 2 of Twin Peaks season 3 were excellent.

I would argue James in the original season of Twin Peaks was cool albiet a bit of a drip. He looks kind of ill now. Looked better when he had hair. Ageing sucks.

3x01- Ben Horne got old. I didn't even recognise him until he introduced Jerry and I saw the name on his desk.

This is just perfect viewing for people with a more open mind towards what entertainment should be. I can see a lot of people not appreciating it whatsoever.

I've only seen the first five minutes but sometimes you just know something is going to be awesome.

When that guy took his sunglasses off I just knew,it was love at first site.

He is kind of ill. He had an adverse reaction to taking Accutane which resulted in his colon being removed.

Not sure about accent, but isn't it supposed to be a Brando impersonation?

Was it? I'll have to watch that again because that didn't sound anything like Brando.

I finished season 1 the other night. I will openly admit that I understand only about 70% of what's going on but I enjoyed it a lot.

Well, he's called Wally Brando, he's dressed like Marlon Brando from- and says stuff that alludes to- The Wild One. He talks about his 'Godfather'. It might not be the best Brando impression, but I think, again, it is supposed to be a Brando impression.

Watched the first two(?) of the new episodes :dread:

It wasn't this grisly before, was it? Not sure about gritty Twin Peaks. I want more "I'll throw this rock" detective-work Twin Peaks... It had hints of it here and there (the police officers in the Ruth scenes), but even then they were a bit too grim.

Will stick with it and hope that once Coop's out the Black Lodge it gets a little less... film student wank-y.
