Game of thrones last season wasn’t the best. But that doesn’t mean the writers deserve to be lynched online by a popular reddit subreddit, petitioned against taking jobs & celebrated when they are kicked of projects to such an enormous degree.

I really enjoyed GOT, and had my own ideas & such where it might lead. It didn’t go where I wanted, but I accept that and move on with my life.

Do you really think that is an unpopular opinion here?

This is GRcade, not an online swamp infested by a niche sect of internet losers.

...right? :shifty:

I've only actually watched the entire trilogy twice due to the daunting 12 hour runtime of the extended versions I have on Bluray.

I get roughly 6 hours free time per day (after the several hours it takes me to get up, dressed and eat meals and do other menial tasks) and I'd rather spend it doing other things like gaming, listening to music and posting on here.

The Ghostbusters films are vastly overrated.

Don't hit me.

Obviously they don't deserve any of the reaction you're describing but I do think they deserved to lose future projects. Its not just a case that they did a bad job or went a different direction to expected but also they rushed the final season to get off it ASAP. The network offered them two seasons of ten episodes-which the show needed-and they said only needed 6.

I get they were done and the shower was getting longer and longer to produce because the budgets had gone bu they should have just handed it over to someone else to finish if their heart wasn't in it. It was very unprofessional and they clearly didn't care about the fan base who had invested in the show and made it a success.

Again, don't deserve any of the crap you described but I don't think they can complai nabout the career consequences they've suffered.

In relation to RichardUK's comment, of the core series:

Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Force Awakens and Last Jedi all suck. A New Hope is good but is very much a "laying the groundwork movie". Rise of Skywalker is good but depends on fan service and isn't worth a repeat watch. So the only movies he's missing out on are Revenge of the Sith, Empre Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

----

Probably unpopular opinion (though Vermis quiz makes me think elsewise):

The MCU version of Loki is very overrated.

So you're saying skip A New Hope but watch Revenge of the Sith?

"It's good but I'd never watch it again."

Rise of Skywalker is about as good as Attack of the Clones.

They seemed to be quite dismissive of the themes and story telling. The Clegane battle at the end was pure fan service and didn't really make sense with where the characters were. The last two seasons felt like a different show. That said I quite enjoyed the last couple of seasons. Although I haven't really felt the need to watch the whole thing again which I thought I would have.

I'm not sure wanting to move on after doing something for years makes sense. HBO could have turned the last two seasons over to other creators if they wanted so I don't think the blame lays solely in one place. So I really don't feel they should lose anything for their decision to finish quickly.

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.

To be fair, I've enjoyed films I wouldn't watch again. I wouldn't say that's a sign of lack of quality. I'm sure that ROS has plenty of other signs mind you.

Joker is incredible but wouldn't watch that again.

ROS is what Scorsese was on about when he called blockbusters "theme park rides", he just used the wrong example.

If time was limited and they couldn't also watch the two mediocre ones (ANH and ROS) then yes.
For the record I watched the prequels before watching the original trilogy.

The new Star Wars trilogy as a roller-coaster ride:
