Everything since has been seriously diminishing returns.

This is nonsense. IV and V were massively ahead of other open world games when they were released.

I really like Saints Row but the only reason people would think it's better than GTA is the because of the internet inverse mainstream popularity dilemma.

IV was just a poor version of the PS2 era games. They messed up the car handling, delivered a dull and repetitive map, implemented a horrible physics system that makes Niko feel like the dude from QWOP, entirely failed to learn any lessons about third person shooting controls, decided it would be fun to pester the player constantly with strawberry floating text messages and phone calls about bowling, and added nothing of value or substance to the formula that had at this point been around for 5+ years.

10/10 GOTY obvs. ;)

All open world games had ropey controls back then but none created a world in the way GTAIV did. The texts were to make it feel more realistic rather than a connection of check boxes and completing the same tasks over and over.

I imagine it hasn't aged very well but at the time it was fantastic.

That’s an unpopular opinion? ;)

One of my favourite GTA V missions involved shooting hipsters.

I can only take Will Ferrell in small doses. Anything where he is the star is just too much. :dread:

He's good in the Anchor Man but I'm not a huge fan.

I’m a gobshite, I regularly got in trouble at work for talking all the time but now I’m getting paid for it. I dealt with post for about 8 or 9 years before getting a taste of contact centre work. Now it doesn’t feel like work at all, I’m getting paid to just talk to people.

Contact centre work is utterly awful on every conceivable level. I’m off for a week and already dreading going back. Glad you like it, but you have definitely won the thread with that hot take.

Are you or have you been approached about a leadership role? You've been there a long time.

No, as they know I’ve been looking for the exit door for the past year. Even if I wasn’t, there is very little room for progression where I am at the moment. I’m very much hoping that 2020 is my last year as a call centre guy.

Is "contact centre" just a fancy new term for call centre or something?

When people started using it in here I initially thought it was in the context of social services and the contact centres that are run to facilitate contact between parents and kids that they might have had removed from their care!

I had a great couple of years in a Contact Centre 4-5 years ago but I was a manager so didn't have to do the actual calls, unless they were escalated as complaints, which were often a case of trying to take them seriously and not laugh, so it was entertaining.

It was a young team so the best part was the social aspect. Everyone in the pub immediately after work on Thursdays and Fridays.

Contact centre also encompasses non-telephonic customer service, such as Live Chat or email etc.

To be fair, I wouldn't promote someone who can't find the way out of a building either.
