It's getting a bit too hot again. Not too bad, though.

[Looks at weather forecast for the next week-and-a-half]

Up to 31C?!? :dread: .

Yeah things are slowly improving again, could do with a few more degrees increase and then we'll be back in the perfection zone! :toot:

Kids sports day's were cancelled last week because the weather was crap so pleased that it looks like they'll go ahead this week.

Do they do any parent races? If so, I expect you to Gary Cahill it :capnscotty:

There was a parents race, but it was the strawberry floating egg and spoon so I binned it off!

At my nephews' junior school they stopped doing parent races after a mum fell and broke her ankle one year.

These kinda races tend to have folk who are possibly not particularly used to running suddenly busting a gut to finish first :fp:  .

Fortunately I have almost zero need to leave the house over the next week or so. I'll just stay in and avoid the awful weather while sitting in front of my fan.

In my house, staying in just makes things worse as this place is a heat sponge.

I'm lucky in that I have one room that gets no sun and is usually pretty cool. My bedroom is a heat sponge though.

Cycled the kids to school this morning, so nice to be able to get out and travel all together without needing to take a car like the other 90% of the year when it's wet and cold :toot:

As a general question, what temperatures do people consider as being hot (or too hot), just right or cold/too cold

For me anything in the low double digits counts as pleasant. 11 to 15 degrees is a nice

Hot for me is when temperatures start hitting 18 degrees +. This is when it starts getting unpleasant/uncomfortable. Too hot would be temperatures mid 20s upwards

Cold would be anything from 5 to 10 degrees. At this temperature it's still pleasant, I can still probably get away with tshirts at the upper end of the scale. Uncomfortably cold would be anything zero below where I might have to think about layering up or putting the heating on. Even then I'm mostly fine though.

Anything over 20 can be too hot for me, but it only really gets to unbearable levels at the high 20s.

Hot is around 23-ish, which is where I stop needing a long-sleeved top. Cold is below 10.

My trusty ~20-year-old 16-inch desk fan finally packed up last night. It’s been temperamental for months, but the motor finally failed, so in the middle of the night I found myself urgently researching a replacement. I recognised the name of one that met all the criteria, and remembered that someone here had one.

Context is important, a comfortable temperature for one activity can be too hot for another etc.

In general I'm happy enough with anything from 10 until high 20s for most situations. Going above 30 is when I'd consider saying it's too hot for anything other than relaxing.

I really hope next week's weather forecast is wrong. It's perfect at the moment. I hate it warmer, especially getting towards and into the 30s. If there's a breeze and a clear sky at night it's not as much of a problem. Otherwise I struggle to cool my house down to sleep.
