It's a lot cooler here in south east London after thunder and rain last night. It looks like the higher levels of heat will be back on Wednesday and Thursday, though :dread: .

No storm here sadly, I love a good thunderstorm - feels like ages since I've experienced a really impressive one!

It was supposed to rain all day yesterday and today but so far we've lucked out and it's stayed relatively dry

Benefits of a north facing garden are being fully realised this past week or so. Garden is lovely and warm whilst the house remains cool.

The Central Belt here rarely gets any properly severe weather. We haven't even had a proper thunderstorm for years. I certainly shouldn't complain - apart from a big snow-in every five years it's just 50 weeks of grey skies and two weeks of sun every year.

When I stayed at Drymen in 2020, it just pissed down with rain pretty much every day.

Ironic, Drymen turned out to be wet, man.

Funnily enough, my dog is from Drymen. Small world.

Another glorious day today, 27C and bright, clear blue skies - makes me think I'm in a 90s SEGA game!

I stop what meagre exercise I do when it gets this warm  I know it’s a case of headspace but I don’t see how anyone finds doing anything more than needed in this heat is fun

Most gyms have pretty good air conditioning. It's what helps us spread the Covid :datass:.

Yesterday I had my first "why don't you go out in the sun and enjoy it??!!" of the summer. I don't get why some sun lovers find it so difficult to comprehend that not everyone likes the heat. "Go out and enjoy it!" Boy, I wish I'd thought of that! My life has completely changed!

I'm just pitched my tent for a two week archaeological dig so obviously the weather has turned gooseberry fool again.

Ouch. Did you get that gig digging up the Antonine Wall? The weather in that area is strawberry floating weird right now. Hot and sunny one minute, pissing rain the next. Playing havoc with the old allergies.

I got the PhD on the Antonine Wall but this particular dig is on Hadrian's Wall - it's been scorching all the last week or so but it seems to be back to mid-teens and rainy now :fp: I'm also cycling ten miles each way to get to site from the tent so I expect to get proper soaked.
