After years on end in my studio using the 15" MacBook (and I have an external monitor but it's chunky as hell and won't work anyway thanks to melted GPU chipset) I think the screen's PWM-controlled LED backlight is flickering when I dim it to not make my eyes bleed (still fast enough you can't tell, but it's 10 sodding years old), so I've been getting cracking migraines. I have an old 26" monster LG thing but it's inelegant and impractical to accommodate down here however I had the idea of tilting screen 90 degrees and shoving to one side when not in use. So I've finally given in to a 27" 16:9 replacement to hook up to a little Dell Precision I have for tougher CAD work. I do prefer more vertical resolution (i.e. the old 1900x1200 or 16:10 aspect) for viewing pages and websites and such, but the resolution should make up for it (just resize the browser window lol).

Incredibly in testing this panel has a 99.8% sRGB gamut coverage which is mad good for a reasonably priced display, not the brightest panel but I am looking forward to a nice one. I've insisted on working on the Mac screen forever but surely the technology is way outdated compared to current screens.

Thought about 144Hz or lower refresh rate to again help with the eyes but they're ultimately all gaming related and the colour accuracy and contrast doesn't tend to be very good (you can get all those features too but expect to pay well into half a grand or more territory) so Dell it is, they always seem to have been good. I thought about super ultrawide or curved but again you pay for that and the actual features of the monitor not so much.

I haven't bought a monitor in about 15 years and even that I bought second hand from a friend. I hope it helps, surely these things wear out after a while and start to strain your eyes. Or maybe that's just an excuse. Whatever, 1400x900 is noway near enough a resolution to be working day in and day out on graphic design stuff, I'm not surprised my eyes are getting strawberry floated

The bezel on these old screens is hilarious looking at what we have these days so hopefully it won't actually use up all that much space on my desk.

I'm used to spending my cash on things like machinery, or tools, a screen seems like such a cash grab in comparison but then again I suppose it is rather important part of a set up especially for an image professional!! Next I guess it'll be a half decent keyboard and oh god here we go...

Herman-Miller have a sale on at the moment. Tempted to upgrade from my mediocre Ikea chair.

And for you they even have an off-centre monitor stand!

They now have a gaming line as well, as if they need an excuse to charge an extra couple hundred of quid. The Logitech chair does look good mind.

I've been looking for a good monitor arm, the Ollin looks pretty good so I might get that.

How much did the gsync version set you back? I didn't know there was one.

But then again I do colour sensitive work and it doesn't tend to work out so well.

Hopefully my eyestrain issues go away and I don't need the upgrade.

I'm thinking about getting a separate gaming monitor for another room though.
