Right - I need to buy an office chair. My back is getting ruined. Got a budget of about £150
Looking at this one at the moment.

Keep in mind things like how high you can raise the seat, and how high the arm rests will be. I've got a chair I really like, but it can't go under my table at the end of the day which is a bit annoying. Also I don't think I could go without a headrest now. It's been a God send being able to recline all the way back and lounge out with my feet propped up during long zoom conferences where I don't need to be on camera.

I keep reading the thread title as something like "the NSFW Babestation thread" and it's starting to grate.

Updated desk kit, going to be here a while so figured it was time to get more comfy.

I use Citrix to get to work PC so no need to laptop docking and use Shadow as my gaming PC so don't need a big PC.

I've been reading through this thread and it's interesting to see both the employers happy for their employees to be safe, and those that are happy to risk their employee's health.

The place I work for is based in Ireland and I'm based in the Scottish office. Over the past couple of weeks the guys in the Irish office have been getting hounded to get back into the office - even though the nature of the work means everyone has a laptop and is quite capable of working remotely to the same standard.

Part of me thinks that it is because the management team have been back in the office longer (due to a combination of gooseberry fool home internet connections and kids) and are therefore twiddling their thumbs and trying to inflict the misery on everyone else. They are also saying sales aren't where they were expecting this quarter (well, duh!), and using that to justify getting people back in the office. Quite how they think getting the development and support teams back in is going to help with that I've no idea. Every potential customer will be tightening their belts at the minute and not wanting to invest in new software, so all they are doing is hitting employee morale HARD.

Attendance in the Irish office for certain teams yesterday was mandatory (except those people with kids and health conditions) and the amount of hoops they have to jump through in order to stay safe is nuts. All the time spent queuing for the kitchen, bathrooms, lifts etc. would easily outweigh any minor 10 minute skives they think might be going on at home

That is incredibly scummy and I hate companies who are doing this. Some people really only care about bums on seats than they do the safety of those bums and it sucks.

Yep. I also think it's a very short-sighted way for management to operate. Once things start to (eventually) get back to normal, employees are going to remember the shite management tried to get away with and be out the door as soon as there are altenatives.

On the complete flip side I had a chat with my gaffer last week where it was quite strongly hinted that I’ll be able to work from home on a regular if not permanent basis after Coronavirus lockdown ends as long as I don’t ADHD it up.

You can count on ADHD to ADHD. Just work solidly until 2am to make up for it.

I reckon my office chair I brought home with me must have a main cushion consisting of 80% farts at this point.
