Still at home too. There was a small murmur we might be planning to go back in a few weeks ago, but rumours have now swung the other way and we'll probably be at home for a while. This is fine with me, as soon as it was mentioned we might only be a few weeks from returning to the office I quickly mentioned that guidelines haven't actually changed for office workers.

I really don't want to go back ever, my work life balance is so much better right now.

Still at home, and the noise coming from the top of our company is to expect to be for a long while yet, at least for us office based employees. They're even providing a budget for us to use against office equipment like chairs, desks, monitors, etc. if required.

Even so, I still don't like working from home all that much. I'm saving time and money without the commute, but I miss the social interaction, and I still don't like the feeling of my work invading my home space.

Latest form our place is that, basically, unless you absolutely need to come into the office, stay at home. Doesn't seem like it's going to change any time soon, and the company is looking to normalise the practise of working from home. Which is great for me personally (although I already had that option).

Yeah still at home, company is moving people that can’t work at home for technical or whatever reasons but has a limit of 1 in 5 desks being used and my area has no drove to go back right now so will be a long time yet.

It sounds like you all work at amazing places. My work are expecting me back on July 1st after they very reluctantly allowed me to WFH due to my wife being high risk.

But there's no way I can go back yet. I can barely even cope with the idea of it when the risk is still high and all of my work can easily be done from the safety of my home. It makes absolutely zero sense to go back early. They haven't taken this pandemic seriously at any point.

At the minute I'm waiting for them to bring it up again but at some point I'm going to have to say "guidelines still say to work from home" and see if things turn nasty or not. Some of you may remember they gave me absolute gooseberry fool the day after I said I needed to WFH until end of June.

I’m Utterly fine with it, but selfishly I’d like gyms to reopen so I can get into a healthier routine and head down for an hour in the mornings before my shift starts.

Hopefully it should be easier for you to make your point while the advice for all office workers hasn't changed, but even if it does I'm sure the government will say something along the lines of those who live with vulnerable people should continue to work from home. Be madness not to, really (which I know means it's in fact likely, but lets just pretend).

Mate I've been following your posts about work and I'd strongly suggest you start looking for a new employer. I'm a bloody call centre drone and I get treated with a hell of a lot more respect than you seem to.

It's just difficult in the current situation though, isn't it? I want to get a new job but the idea of looking for one during a pandemic fills me with as much dread as dealing with my current one. I'll have to sort something out sooner or later though.

My WFH set up is shockingly bad compared to some of the set ups in here!

Macbook Pro 13" plus a portable laptop stand and hopping between the sofa and the IKEA Poang Chair.

Unlikely to be back in the office for many months and probably not even this year so I really ought to sort out a more long term solution. It's a nuisance trying to do Tri-screen work when using a single laptop screen.

Is your home computer a PC? I use some network mouse software that lets you use one keyboard and mouse like a virtual kvm.

Nah the gaming PC from 2011 still works but I didn't even bother to bring it with me when I moved into my own place. The last video game I played was Bioshock Infinite so probably 7 years ago now and so I haven't needed a desktop for a while. I have it at my mum's home gathering dust now.

I have a laptop which I hardly use but is new enough and probably more powerful than my Macbook Pro, never thought a laptop could be used as an additional monitor but if that's an option I'll have to look into it.

Other than 1 day in March where work weren't sure what the deal was I've been in the office the whole time during lockdown.

In all honesty I don't think I would have coped at home trying to work with my wife and three kids around so for me this has actually been the best outcome! If I was single or we didn't have any kids though I would have loved to be WFH for the last 3 months!

Yeah I've got a USB C Dock but I didn't realise a laptop could be used as a 2nd monitor.

I briefly used the 55% 4k TV in the living room but it turns out most websites look weird and don't scale well either to a screen or resolution of that size. Something like a 32" 4k monitor might be worth considering though. I'd been using an ultra wide monitor (2560x1080)which is much less irritating than 2 separate screens with bezels inbetween but 4k would be handy for using as a Netflix device for the bedroom.

My company hasn't really said anything, but the rumours I've heard circulating and something one of my seniors mentioned makes it sound like we'll probably be at home longer term. I'm happy with that for sure.
