I really doubt Michael was lying. His whole attitude to his stepdad is a bit more than just anger at him for stealing.

Indeed. Michael's behaviour towards male authority figures is explained by the abuse he suffered. The real question is- was Chris abused? I think the answer is yes.

Monday 4th of October 2010 - the first presentation will be given in a new series showcasing current work, research and/or projects undertaken in the School of Art & Design at Coventry University. David King will kick the series off with a discussion on the cult TV show 'The Wire'.

I'm not going to lie to you - before it started, a professor who I hate with the burning passion of a white-hot sun walked in and sat down, and that is *exactly* what I said to myself.

Coming up to halfway through season 4 and there's a hell of a lot of stuff it seems I'd forgotten. It perfectly runs the line between joyous (the kids getting in to scrapes, Prezbo slowly learning to teach) to horrifying (Chris and Snoop in the tenements, any time Marlo is onscreen). Fantastic.

Just to echo what everyone else has said, it really is the most magnificent TV series that has ever been created.

I've successfully got my mum into it now - I wasn't sure how she'd take to it, and Series 1 on DVD was her mother's day present. She never said anything about it for ages and I thought she was avoiding mentioning it cos she didn't like it, but she finished the series and is gonna get the rest.

Me, I lost the Wire in my most recent custody battle. I got the 24s instead. Reading the last few pages here, I'm gonna have to re-buy it. Probs after I'm done with 24 season 8.

Just rewatched series 2. Can't believe how much more I enjoyed it the second time round. I've got much more appreciation now for the dockers storyline, both the characters, and how the plot comes together, as a series and into the whole tale of the Wire.

I think the reason I perhaps didn't enjoy it so much the first time was thatI was desperate to get back to the Stringer Bell/Avon Barksdale storyline of series 1. Which meant I didn't take on the characters as much as Series 1.

favourite part of the episode!!

Probably won't mean anything to most people, but Solomon Burke just died.

The Wire fans may remember him best as the singer of 'Fast Train' which plays over the montage at the end of season 3.

Just read he had 21 kids and 90 grandkids :shock:

Just been reading up on some of the cast and I never knew that the guy who plays the deacon in season 3 was a former drug trafficker in the 70's / 80's.

Currently enjoying S4.
