Really getting back into this currently. Despite having first started the game over 2 years ago, I started again a few months back and I've finally made it further than I have before. Now well into the Bloody Baron questline, which I never started first time around, and it's amazing. I totally get why there's so much hype around that story line, and it's a significant step up over the Keira Metz story quest which I opted to do first time round. I just hope this isn't the game peaking so early, as looking around, there's a ton of map still left for me to explore.

There is so much goodness all over the place, you have no need to worry.
I finished the base game a couple of years ago, but only played HoS and B+W in the past few weeks. Outstanding stuff, and re-cemented it as one of my favorite games of all time.

Just got half way through the Baron on the switch at the moment. Enjoying it immensely.

Hi,

I've been playing this lots. Love it. So far I'm Half way through baron and bog witches quest. The family matters quest has ran dry with no leads for his wife, so I'm just doing the other questline instead. She's better at hiding than maddy mccann.
I've also explored so much of Velen, and ventured around Novigrad and Oxenfurt for gwent reasons.
I'm level 13 so way above the level 6 i should be for main quest but never mind. I really want a bloody scorch card in gwent, it's the MOST OP card and the opponnents all seem to have it. Still built up my northern realms deck quite nicely, with 3 archer dudes that multiple, 2 catapults that multiply, and some decent heroes, Love it.

The fact I got this for free on game pass as well. WoaW! Shame the DLC isnt free though, thing is I could end up paying full price for the game as I'm just playing this and it could take me four or 5 months to get through. I have GTA and a few others lined up for after this but realistically, who knows when I'll get round to it.

Also, defo banged Keira metz, are there reprucussions for my relationship with Yennifer? I also may have slept with some hookers in the novigrad brothel. The virtual me has many different morals to the real me.

Been playing through this again on NG+ on Death March difficulty. You basically die in one or two hits normally but been fine so far spamming the shield and dodge.

Until last night when I reached (endish game spoiler) Ciri Vs Crones fight.

Would be fine playing as Geralt who's basically OP at this point when you can use potions, oils, magic, upgrade everything. But Ciri does barely any damage so takes ages to kill just one and then I swear the others get more aggressive at that point.

She does have decent dodge and some health regen though. I know it's not actually difficult and just requires patience spamming dodge and attack but is just frustrating getting hit once, staggering and getting hit another two times and having to start it all over again.

Hopefully when I eventually get past this the fight with Geralt immediately after isn't going to be so bad.

Just seen that this thread has come back to the front page so thought I’d join in!

Currently exploring Velen, yet to reach either of the two cities to the north and south-east yet though as Velen seems huge with a shed load of areas to explore and uncover. I’m not playing on Death March, just playing on the normal difficulty and enjoying it, nothing is really posing a challenge but if I fancied playing through it again on NG+ I might up the difficulty one notch. Just got another Witcher contract to do about the swamp then I think I’ll be starting to track down some of the Witcher gear (apparently its decent armour that can be upgraded?) before heading elsewhere (think I’ll be heading to see Triss next). I’m loving the main quest and the majority of the side quests so far as well.

It’ll probably be slightly controversial but the one thing I’m not sold on is Gwent, played it a few times and just don’t see what all the fuss is about? More than happy just getting through the main quest, most of the side quests and then the excellent sounding DLC, in particular Blood and Wine.

Both sets of DLC are incredible, Hearts of Stone is a fantastic self contained story with an exceptional antagonist, Blood and Wine is a huge new area with so much new content that it almost puts many full games to shame. Toussaint is a gorgeous location as well, a really nice change of scenery.

I felt the same when I first played it, been playing a lot this time though for the trophies. It's tedious to start with when everyone you meet seem to have stronger decks than you but there is a point as you get better cards that it sort of clicked for me. Although at this point, I have so many strong cards I no longer have to think tactically so much because I can just overpower them anyway so it's pretty boring again.

You can change the gwent difficulty too in the menu, separate to game difficulty which I wasn't aware about until recently.

Oh I might lower the Gwent difficulty and see if that improves my view of it! Playing on Switch so no trophies to grind out thankfully.

I ignored Gwent until about halfway through the game when I came across a quest that required you to play. You could lose obviously, and the direction of the quest would change if you did, but I didn't want to. The next 5-10 hours of gameplay was spent working on my deck and strategy and by the end, I strawberry floating loved Gwent.

How do I get more of the hero/god cards in gwent? The one where you press X to use a special ability.

Just a case of playing and beating different merchants, inn keepers etc. Besides a few cards you can miss in certain quests, you'll get every card eventually by just winning against whoever you can play.

Still playing this. It's been great.

Skellige spoilers
Skellige was good, but strawberry float me do they expect me to get all them smugglers caches? Worse than the triforce pieces in wind waker I tells ya, I love doing a game fully, but that gooseberry fool is pointless and tedious.

Kaer Mohren Spoilers

Had so much fun drinking with the other witchers, such an unexpected oart of the game. Of course I chose every descision to be the stupidest one, and ended up getting caught by Yen wearing her trousers. Great stuff :slol: :slol: :slol:

I’ve give up on this on my switch and traded it in. I really really wanted to like it but I found after many attempts I just couldn’t get into it or the system. Not a knock at the game or people who like it it just ultimately wasn’t for me.

I love the series tho

Started this the other day and have just moved onto the second area. The absolute state of Geralts voice is doing my head in. Give that man a Strepsil.

I struggled with it too. Played for about 5 hours and felt bogged down with everything going. Haven't gone back to it. Need to give it another go really as I don't think I saw the best of it.

Maybe the switch isn't the best place to play it?

I can get why people may not 'get it' though. It takes its time at the start and it's not like other open world games, it just plays a lot differently and there's far less hand holding or explanations for things. Assasins Creed Odyssey is like a Mario game in comparison to it (in terms of how it tells you where to go, and what to do and giving you tons of moves to unlock)
