I'm finding it hard to find quests/enemies in or around my level in NG+

For a 3 year old game it is truly stunning still.

I was really enjoying the challenge of NG+ - it's so satisfying when you take down a beast that's several levels above you!

I remember that exact spot

I also love the challenge of going for a higher level enemy, feels very souls like when one hit on you could finish it.

I really need to start Witcher 2 soon so I can get stuck in to the third one


Is there a topic for the Netflix show or has this one just been used until now?

after a long break i've got right back in to this again. It's so good.

I also had it crash so bad that it reset my pc and uninstalled itself.

I'm imagining after it uninstalls itself it then somehow sends itself back to Steam/GOG so it doesn't have to deal with your PC.

There was some gimp asking on Era if the expansions were worth playing. I thought fair enough, he's not heard how good they are. Nope. Turned out he'd heard how good they but decided to ask anyway.

I read that era thread too. Typical of someone feigning ignorance on a beloved game because they know it'll roll on for pages of replies and attention.

It's such a great game. Everywhere feels so unique, but packed with things to find if you just stick your nose in here and there. I've been playing 85 hours and the last main quest I did was a level 15 one. Go with Yen to find a djin and end up on a mountain top with a teleported boat. Got to go and find an ugly baby next to find what happend to ciri. No idea how far in to the game I am - could be right near the start, could be near the nd, who knows. The game just feels never ending

That’s about 3 quarter ways through I reckon.

The Last Wish is probably the best mission in the game, and possibly in any RPG ever. It's so well done.

The Last Wish is great - and I love that even though Yen makes it clear that it's really important to her Geralt still has the option to basically say "nah, can't be arsed to help you"

There are so many good quests in the game though, the whole damn thing is just brilliant. It's more a case of picking out the few bits that don't maintain the high quality level!

Thanks. I may stop main quests and clear some of the never-ending side ones, plus just explore for a bit then.

@Taff - I wouldn't say it was the best, but it was a really nice quest. I do like how the dialogue choices can greatly change how the story goes on a side quest of all things.

My favourite quest is actually one of the DLC ones (the wedding one from Hearts of Stone) but I loved the way The Last Wish dealt with the idea of toxic relationships in such a mature way, which is why I think it's the best executed one.

I was at a loose end last night and just didn't want to play any of the games that I had been looking at recently, so in a bind I turned back to this and started a NG+ run on the Death March difficulty.

Even just re-running through the opening areas and first mission it's immediately apparent why this is such a good game. Right away you are presented with fantastic dialogue, layered characters and meaningful choices and interactions.

It still looks absolutely incredible as well, such a gorgeous game that it is impossible to not just stop and look at the world around you every few minutes.

I had also completely forgotten just how amazing it sounds as well - not just in terms of the soundtrack which is brilliant of course - but the ambient sounds of the world, the wind in the trees, sounds of wild animals and monsters around you, villagers going about their business etc. It does so many great things with the audio to really cement you in the world.

I can see me being sucked right back into this again now...

Over the Christmas period I was seriously tempted to get this on Switch but was put off by the high price (even in the sale) so instead turned to my PS4 version which had sat in my gaming drawer for a few years. I'd never got very far into it on my initial playthrough so started from scratch the other day and it's just wonderful. Got to Velen already having cleared White Orchard (which is such a good opening zone for a game, really pulls you in) and am taking my time doing all of the side quests I can find that are at my level, marking anything too deadly on my map for later.

I'm really committed to getting as much out of the game as I can so will be playing this over anything else on my PS4 - kind of like a New Year's resolution to clear my backlog.

Not tried to play Gwent yet though, baby steps and all that

Picked up the expansion the other today with MS credit (and some reward points credit). I have the game on PS4 (and completed the Wild Hunt), but downloaded the Game Pass version to make use of my "free" expansion. I wasn't sure how well the game would hold up (i loved it 4 years or so ago), and am very pleased to report that its (together with the atmosphere) still a cut above the story telling in nearly every other game. It looks lovely on the 1X too.

I found they have put the gwent standalone game on iPhone now! It’s great!
