I think I am 30 now, but that is only because I have been playing a lot of the sidequests.

You can hit 30 easily by playing the story. Think I jumped from 20 to 27 within a few hours due to how much XP I got from just a few quests.

The second expansion due next year is meant to be the meatier DLC according to reports. For a game like this to keep on giving for a whole year is incredible. Do you think a sequel will be released this generation?

No. I don't even think we'll see Cyberpunk 2077 for a good few years yet so I would've thought a new Witcher is a long, long way off.

The Toussaint DLC should be incredible, can't wait for that one. Hopefully I'm lucky enough to nab the Gwent decks through that offer for expansion pass owners, and if they also put the Northern Realms and Nilfgaard decks in the next DLC pack then I can get the full set. :datass:

Gwent is something I haven't got into as I don't like card games in real life.

I didn't get into Gwent until Zoran's card quest but since then I've been mildly addicted. It really is a fantastic part of the game.

Had a bit of time to get back into the main game too and, holy moly it just keeps getting better. I generally hate the word in the context of gaming but the immersion factor here is better than anything I've played since Fallout 3. Rather than fast travel or horse I've found myself walking, not even running, to a majority of quests. I've never once fast travelled on a boat, not even in Skellige. Wandering through the hills of Ard Skellige or the marshes of Velen, or the city streets of Novigrad sells the universe even more than the fantastic writing and unrivalled facial animations. It's an astounding achievement of a game.

I don't think I've ever bought an expansion for a console game, but I'm mighty tempted by the expansion pass after seeing that trailer.

Seems cheap at £19.99. So tempted. I can't imagine ever finding anyone to play it with in real life though.

£14.99 for the PC version. Pre-ordered that while I wait to hear if they'll have enough stock for existing pass owners.

That's incredible. Safe to say we won't be getting a sequel until next generation.

I really cannot get on with this. I desperately want to as I'm a big fan of open world in general and RPGs especially, but as great as the story/setting is (and I love how each different discovery seems to be unique, each quest has obviously been well thought out etc) I cannot get past the disproportionately bland combat. There needs to be something deeper for me, all my fights in any situation seem to be quen/pull one of the group of enemies/whittle them down via swords or signs/next enemy/repeat until cleared.

So, that's it -got to the end of the game!

The final fight against Eredin wasn't really all that and the final scene with Ciri walking off into the snow was a bit of a let down as was the aftermath of the final fight against the remaining witch.

What can I say? Everything was so well put together and it really did feel like an epic adventure. I still have many sidequests to complete along with treasure hunts and witcher contracts and must have played for 150 hours or so by now! Thoroughly engrossing that requires the player to really get into the game and live Geralt's journey. So many memorable people, quests, places and music!

Going to give this a rest now and start MGS V along with PES 2016 next week, but will come back to this before Christmas, get that season pass and play some more!

I felt like this and sold the game after a week or so. A rebought it a month later and spent time getting into the different sidequests and living Geralts journey. After a while the combat becomes a bit more satisfying. You must switch to the new controls introduced with one of the patches and turn off the motion blur etc for a richer experience. Give it some real time and more importantly, don't spend too much time on other games, as this one needs undivided attention to be fully appreciated imo.

Ive been working through NG+. the witcher weapons/armour start again so ill have to get new inserts. Going to skellege early. Can I strawberry float Yennifer and Triss, and still get one of them in the end?

Sounds like you got the worst ending. The other two endings are alot more satisfying.

Try increasing the difficulty level.

Yep, upon reading some articles it seems there are multiple endings! Luckily i saved a good few hours before the end as a separate file, so may redo it a few times to see the other endings. I do feel a bit tired of playing this, so will give it some time now. I don't think i've consistently played any single game for so many hours. Its such a shame that game time counter reset a few times because of those patches.

I would say the new movement controls and patch on the visuals improved the game a lot for me. I really do wonder how amazing this would have looked if it stuck to the original visuals.

I would say that open world games can now be fully realised this generation - the witcher 3 shows it can handle large open worlds, but also amazing details and fewer mini load times. The fact that we run from a mountain, to a town, and then into a hut and there are no loading times is just stunning!

What a remarkable effort from cd projekt and i am so glad i gave this another chance! Perhaps a good topic for the future...second chances!

It's not the difficulty though - hell, I definitely die pretty regularly - it's the actual mechanics. Hopefully when I'm a bit more levelled the options open up a bit.

No more Rocket League

I'll get back on it this week anyway. SoK is moaning at me for giving up :x

Ps4 load times when you die are putting me off this.

Actually you can. You can Tell Triss you love her and then you two strawberry float. When you meet Yennifer in Skelige you can strawberry float her on the stuffed unicorn, however you have to reject Yennifer when you do "The Last Wish" quest, and stay with Triss.
I can't believe I actually typed "strawberry float her on the stuffed unicorn" Damn this game!
