Some oil for your blade maybe?

Oh and don’t forget to start a fight with a pirouette ;)

I don't remember all that well, but I think that fight is a bit early in the game to have the spectre oil.

I might be remembering wrongly then, sure I remember it being part of the quest page as an optional objective? It’s been a while since I played this last.

Just downloading this on my Series X anyway :toot:

Apparently we're both wrong, you have the recipe from the beginning and just need the ingredients to craft it.

Digital Foundry not impressed with the PC performance, even including the hot fix:

Probably going to give this a miss for a while

Nope. She can still regen her health in seconds even with little of it left. It's a side quest, so I'll just leave it for now until I'm powered up a bit more.

Right, I've started this again on PS5 so let's see how far I get before the burnout kicks in. I think my trouble on my last two playthroughs is that I've spent too much time in White Orchard instead of progressing the main quest. Maybe I'll try a bit differently this time.

Just seen the Whoreson Jr quest line through to the end, and that was truly horrible.

There's a ghost early on for one of the side quests (nelly in the woods I think?) and it's a total ball ache. I use Quen constantly, then if I get brave ill burn em with Piro but the combat can be annoying.

DarkRula wrote:Yup. Encountered that side quest last night. Wouldn't be too bad if her health didn't regen in literal seconds during the phase where she brings out some minions. I'll give it another try sometime.

Generally you'll want to use Yrden for ghosts. It's the purple one that puts a big circle on the ground, anything that steps into it is slowed and forced into corporeal form so you can damage them.

Also, the roll is gooseberry fool. Always dodge, don't bother rolling. Disclaimer: Correct at time of my last play-through. May have changed with this update.

Ghosts move so erratically (including disappearing when you hit them) that the Yrden circle doesn't seem to do much, you need the ghost to actively move into it and I tried it several times with the ghost dancing around it that I gave up.

Being the good guy in this is disasterous on the finances.
I'm level 7 and I'm still skinter than most of the peasants.
I can't even sell the swords and stuff I loot as the prices I get are so piss poor.

I put my first 3 upgrade points into the mind influencing skill thinking it would help me get better selling prices but it didn't :fp: .

Lastly, I'm a tad annoyed that it disables the ability to enter combat when I enter the castle of that fat lord who you have a fistfight with.

Great game so far but is it me or does it use a very similar sound effect for leveling up as the assassins creed series?

Just loot everything in sight and sell it all for whatever you can get, it all adds up!

Also, the merchants at the start of the game are poor as gooseberry fool, so you end up not being able to sell any more to them very quickly.

I think it might have been a bit too much for me. I had to stop playing straight after.

The way this game depicts women is just so bad. For every strong female character in there, (who must always be sexy, please ignore the way the game retcons Triss' disfiguring scar from the books that leads her to always cover up up to her neck, also Ciri fights in swamps wearing high heels,) there's a hundred NPC strumpets, every poor townswoman has a cleavage you could rest your tea on, and while I get the world of the Witcher is supposed to be a gritty one, there have to be other ways to convey this than constantly parading dead and/or sexually assaulted female bodies in front of you.

I get that I'm probably expecting far too much from a game series that had you picking up collectible trading cards from every peasant villager and countess you managed to bed in the first instalment, but this is just getting worse.

And having just finished White Orchard, I realise that I actually meant I normally spend far too long in Velen  :fp:

Don't forget Triss' alternative costume, which has a plunging neckline right down to her navel, and still ignores her scar!

I just collected everything up to my carry limit then shoved off to Novigrad to ditch it - across the various merchants there you should be able to offload everything easily enough.

It's easy enough to up your carry limit as well which means you can do even bigger loot trips!

Another PC hotfix is out:

https://www.thewitcher.com/en/news/4723 ... -available
DECEMBER 22ND, 2022
We’ve released another hotfix for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PC. On top of further overall stability improvements it also introduces a number of fixes, including:

fixes to photo mode,
fixes to the Arabic language in the game,
fix to the bug with toxicity stuck at max level,
Steam Deck improvements,
and more.
The game version won’t change.

Nice and vague.

Has stability been the problem? I thought performance was the main issue?
