Look if Boris Johnson can do it, you've got every chance mate.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

"Have you got a history of making offensive, racist, homophobic and possibly libellous/slanderous remarks and publications?"

"Oh my goodness no! I would never do anything like that!"

"if you had a kitten and we go back to the office you'd need a good routine"

It'll be a cold day in hell before they send me back to the office. Before the pandemic we had two people working from home already - they took a paycut because they moved far up north, but I've proven time and time again I'm more efficient working from home and I'm going to be staying this way or leaving I think for sure.

I've heard of it happening before, the cost of living is a lot lower where they live so they took it.

For them they now can't really visit any clients or anything since all of our clients are local to London which I guess is why it happened. I'll happily go to Clients if I need to, but I'm not going to our office and I won't take a paycut for it either. I'll just leave if it comes to it, I've got more than a year of savings where I can easily survive without work if it comes to it too.

That's bonkers. WFH does not equate to less/worse output or fewer accountabilities.

Aye I know, it's insane.

I've got the facts to backup that I'm way more efficient working from home and for my mental health it's made me feel so much better. I'll start actually looking for a new job soon, still need to setup a linked in. I'm terrible at actually starting things up, it's not that I'm ignoring all of your advice but yeah I have a very bad problem with anxiety caused laziness :fp:

Alongside my writing I'm working for a localisation company.

Jeez they can be dicks. One small project had a bunch of logic in the copy, which I ignored. Turns out the translator had popped a space between each block and the following copy. I wasn't looking for this so I missed it.

Should I have spotted it? Probably. But the way they handed it... first the project lead accused me of altering it myself, going off on a patronising spiel about how I shouldn't alter the format of the source copy without permission and essentially giving me a warning. When he found out it wasn't me, he didn't bother to apologise, instead saying it was a "learning opportunity" and how he can't be there to spot every mistake I make.

It really didn't make me want to be better tbh. It just pissed me off.

Not exactly the worst experience I've ever had but it was really jarring.

Fucksake Taf, did you not engage your mindreading circuits before starting on it so that you knew what was going on even without being told about it!?

Situations like that really annoy me, particularly when it could have easily been avoided by the task just being defined/communicated more clearly.

At the moment I'm putting it down to them being a Russian company and that it's a cultural difference.

They might just be dicks though.

Mr Taf, this is not even written in Russian. You've just written in English and put the Rs the wrong way round.
