Annual leave is the one lads. Make a long weekend even longer. Back at home in Norn Iron. Warmest days of the year. A splendid time not to be thinking about spreadsheets. :datass:

I've seen a job that I'd like to go for and the company seems to have good employee reviews but they're a small company with about 50 people working there so I'm unsure if I should go for it or not.

Are they looking to grow or staying static?

Small can be good as you get more experience in lots of areas and can be more agile but it can be a right ballache if they don't want what you want.

My last place was 10 people they said they wanted to explore new business administration build products but after 2 years I left as it was apparent that it was never going to happen as the directors never wanted to take any form of risk.

They claim they want to grow and are growing at a good rate but I've no idea how to actually check that out to see if its legit or not

Can you find anything through their companies house submissions?

First day at the new place today! Woke up at 5 to get ready. Not looking forward to the mornings once it starts getting darker. It'll do for now, though. Hope Santander get in touch about my business bank account soon :shifty:

Think I'm going to cancel my membership to the union. Useless bunch have let all shift workers in the company get screwed over. No mention of strike action and they're just bending over and accepting it. Absolute waste of money.

I requested an extra day off in August and the person responsible for it came back with some stuff which basically amounted to 'this upsets what I have already started plan for so creates more work' as a response but still said okay. Threw the HR policy book back in a 'second night shift' email. Feels good man. 8-)

Bet it comes back to me though like every email I send on a night shift. :slol:

'Tis bullshit though. The rules are pretty simple in that if the roster has been published I can't book leave and if too many people are off I won't be able to get it. I get that booking leave right at the last minute is a pain, especially as we are strawberry floated for staff but it is still strawberry floating May.

We operate a similar thing where 20% of staff are allowed off. Only thing is, sick people are factored into this.

Got some leave down for a day in June as I have an appointment I need to keep. If someone goes off on the sick on that day, I will probably be asked to come in. I'll be telling them to strawberry float off.

We, too, work on a similar holiday planners, in which they'll only allow two people off at a time. In a team of twenty four, most of whom have at least 23 days leave. And due to peak season, we can't have anyone off in December. Or the last week of November. Or the first week of January. Or the Tuesday after any bank holiday.

I'm sure you've already worked out that the numbers don't add up.

The really depressing thing is when you don’t even want to wank yourself off.
