Nice idea in theory but all this seems to result in is the receipt of an "Applaud" email which says little more than "well done".

It's nice to receive a well done email but why it has to be wrapped in this mechanism is bizarre. If a boss or colleague thinks someone has done a good job then just send them an email directly or hell even just chat to them and say "well done, you did a great job with X!". Sticking into some kind of corporate system like this just makes it feel very sterile and meaningless.

Must be how the NHS workers feel during the weekly clapathon!

Do you want them to put a rainbow in their window for you?

I've seen that work in a couple of different ways. There really needs to be more to it than just an email though, as people don't care about that.

First place I worked where they had it offered different tiers of recognition, and you got gift vouchers of differing values. So you can reward someone for good work through the system, and they get sent a £25 voucher, or £50, or £100, depending on the scale of the work or recognition (each one had to be approved by their manager).

Second place I worked in, you didn't get a reward for each recognition, but at the end of the year everyone's totals would be tallied up, and whoever had the most would get a voucher, maybe £250 or so.

I'm generally not fussed about stuff like this, but it added a little extra incentive to things for some people I guess.

The lockdown collapsed on VE Day. It's completely dead now.

We have a recognition scheme as well, you and your manager get an e-mail when someone submits a recognition through the system, but every month they pick out some of the people who've received a recognition and give them a £50 Amazon voucher and put your name in a monthly newsletter.

I've had two so far :datass:

How similar are the roles?

I feel like that's something they could get in trouble for...

Stepped out of our office into the corridor to find that some jobsworth has been getting busy with a roll of tape sticking gooseberry fool all over the floor:

I was hoping to rely on my good British Commonsense™ to see me through this crisis but apparently we all need shitty little labels slapped all over the shop to remind us to stand 2m apart.

Fun facts: the yellow labels which say to stay 2m apart are not actually 2m apart and the red and white lines are trying to set up a system of walking on the left in a corridor that is clearly not wide enough for people to pass at more than a distance of a few cm let alone 2m! :fp:

I know, it's a strawberry floating disgrace. :dread:

Company are in a gooseberry fool relationship with the landlord and are desperate to leave the building so strawberry float all is being done about the state of the place. This is also why we have no working air conditioning and why any rooms and corridors near the toilets stink so badly that most people actively avoid them or run past if they need to go that way!

There's one section where it genuinely looks like someone died on it and was then left to rot for a good length of time.
