All I did was after they bought something up about me yesterday was call one of them (with the hopes of calling the other after as they were on the phone and were until the end of the day) to explain the situation, then was unable to call the other person. At the very end of the day I sent a message (as they were still on the phone and this is 5 minutes after closing time) that said 'It's cool I don't want to keep you, I'll speak to you next week. Have a good weekend!' since they're off today.

Apparantly this was rude and I can't figure out what the strawberry float im doing wrong. I work the way I want to, close all the tickets and they say no don't do it like this. I change how im working to how they want me to work, close all the tickets still and they say im still doing it wrong. What the strawberry float do you want me to do? I'm literally closing the most tickets by the end of the day and yesterday I answered the most calls. What am I doing wrong?

Mmmm sounds like a gooseberry fool situation to be in. I wonder if there is some bullying going on.

If it was a colleague who brought something up about you and you then went to them directly then yes, I think it is inappropriate behaviour. I think it is more acceptable in the case of a manager saying something. Your final message might come across as being passive-aggressive which someone will be more inclined to do if they have already made a comment about you. Best just to leave these things alone unless prompted otherwise I find. Depends on the company I suppose.

It does sound from your final paragraph that they are being very difficult, despite all the effort and great work you put in. Some people can become jealous or intimidated by colleagues doing well. Imagine the wrong person as your manager. They go into a meeting with other managers, one of whom says "Hey Qikz is doing really well with these tickets". They then get cross because they are not the one getting the praise or credit and take it out on you.

I'd just keep a record of everything you are told and try to respond in polite manner to any requests, asking for clear and concise instructions on what you should be doing, or what you are doing wrong. Just keep at it. You know you are doing all the work well and on time. strawberry float everyone else and try to not let their bullshit get to you. Easier said than done though...

I've started documenting absolutely everything I say to them and I get back with timestamps and names just in case.

I spoke to my other Manager who said they would call me based on her email and I went through it all again explaining that I wasn't being rude I was respecting her time and wanted her to have a nice weekend and I could call her next week. I explained to my Dad as well and even sent him the messages and he burst out laughing.

I guess it really is what you said as well, that they had beef with me anyway and already thought I was being rude, when all I was trying to do was to take into account what they told me a month ago when I was super burnt out and show that I'd changed my stance. I explained to him exactly what I'd been doing, why my ticket numbers at that specific point of the day are lower and that's because of what they told me to change about how I was working last time. I explained why 12 months ago my ticket numbers were higher every day (because they were counting what they're not counting now, we had less staff, more tickets coming in and more stupid phonecalls) and explained that whenever I check every day I'm always within the top 3 ticket closers a day by a large margin and also on the phones the most.

They confirmed to me on the phone they're not upset with my work which directly contradicts everything they said yesterday and that really shitty email, but I'm going to go into the weekend not thinking about this gooseberry fool and finish today knowing I'm already at the top of the calls and tickets yet again. I also changed how I was working back to how I worked before they gave me the advice in the first place to show how my ticket numbers are higher in the morning when I just work how I would normally work. Let's see how this goes.

That message you sent seems fine. I don't understand why it was construed as you being rude. I think that probably says more about them than you.

I think the fact we live in a world where delivering your work and meeting the goals isn't good enough, you have to do it in this or that way, speaks a lot of how people and corporations operate.

But then that is why I work in a business with 1 person, so what do I know.

Back to work after a week of. Good knows what I'm going to be doing, still new to the team so will be a bit of a surprise when I get into our standup and grind it what I'm doing for the next week and a half.

Ever since we had a really, really shitty manager that nobody liked and I was the only one to stand up and complain about 3 years ago after she tried to get me fired I've been tarred with this "always complaining, doesn't respect anyone" brush which is completely untrue, but I spent so long trying to shake it and thought I had (I literally never said anything about anyone or anything) and then it comes back to bite me in the ass.

I'm still waiting to hear if I can have this Friday off. Takes forever for them to approve things here, well annoying.

The madness in booking December holiday is the worst thing about working life. I really couldn't give two gooseberry fools about it but it still frustrates me no end when you see the same injustices every year.

For example, the same select few getting Christmas off year on year because they are the boss/friends with the boss/have kids/submitted a form a year in advance again/whatever reason you can think of, while everyone else fights amongst themselves over who's turn it is to stay at work.

Can you not try to do this? The other reasons are obviously BS but if they are operating a first come first served basis for AL, can you try to get in early for 2021?

I can guarantee if I did that, it'd be declined as I'm not liked. I suppose my grievance is more with my working situation in general than just Christmas.

Your employer really does sound dreadful, Zilnad. How did you get on a few months ago? I seem to remember you talking about applying elsewhere a few months back.
