Oblomov Boblomov wrote:Hypocritical Brexit Wanker James Dyson Weighs In on the Working From Home Debate

The “chances of the next generation will suffer” if British workers do not return to the office, Sir James Dyson has warned.

The billionaire inventor has called on the Government to take the “less popular decision” and lead workers away from their homes and back into offices in order to restore the “competitiveness” of the nation’s firms.

"We risk creating a two-tier workforce with those at home becoming less and less effective, leaving those diligently attending the workplace to drive the business forward."

However, Labour has previously called for flexible working to become the “new normal”, saying “the right to flexible working will change our economy and the world of work for the better”.

Writing for the Daily Telegraph Sir James said allowing flexible working on a long-term basis risks creating a “two-tier workforce”.

He wrote: “Glib statements from ministers about home-working being ‘here to stay’ show a lack of understanding of the detrimental impact that it is having. Where is their output-based evidence?

“We risk creating a two-tier workforce with those at home becoming less and less effective, leaving those diligently attending the workplace to drive the business forward.”

It seems a very long time ago (well, pre-2016, I guess!) that Dyson was not considered to be a massive bellend.

Rather than fearing such a cataclysmic outcome, Dyson seems to relish the prospect. In his interview for the Sunday Times Rich List earlier this year (£), he enthused about post-Brexit Britain becoming the Singapore of Europe: “Singapore is a great example. It has free trade and high technology… You pay for education according to how wealthy you are. You insure yourself for health. But the maximum tax rate is 22%. Amazing.”

Is he describing a system in which the amount paid for education is relative to the wealth of the person receiving it?

If so, I'm pretty sure I agree with that sort of idea in principle... no doubt it is subject to huge corruption in reality.

What I don't understand is how stuckists fail to realise that economically people WFH saving a huge chunk (sometimes as much as 50% of their salaries) means they have more money to spend on whatever the strawberry float they want which contributes to the free market and the economy. And it would be the same for regulated market caps on private renting instead of money pouring into the same few market sectors (housing, finance, travel etc) and wealthy individuals. I don't understand why these banana splits think better wellbeing and a greater economic freedom is a bad idea or how that will make they employees worse and their product or profits worse. It doesn't make sense from a very basic human perspective. They just want to keep strawberry floating people for their labour and making bank with fear management. strawberry float them.

He's worded it terribly, then. What a prick!

I also don't understand this idea of reducing the salaries of people who choose to WFH. The people who are costing the company much, much less than the people who are in the office. If anything it should be the office freaks who have their salaries reduced :slol: not that I would agree with it, but it would make a lot more sense.

Meeting put in covering my lunch break today, so I don't get a proper break all day :simper:

"It was the only gap in your calendar". Yes because it's my only break :fp:

The NHS are too good at doing that - my missus is a shrink and rarely gets a proper lunch break.

Got told I had to cover our office today incase there was any packages. That's all well and good, but my strawberry floating boss is here. If he's here there's no need for me to be here at all.

It was an overseas team so I had to accept it.

Here's another one: I hate it when someone gets in touch for something, then when you help them they just outright blank you. No thanks or acknowledgment. strawberry float you.

I did something that required me to go home at lunch so I had to pay for 4 ubers instead of 2. I've been here with my boss alone all day and there's been 0 need for me to be here at all.

What a huge waste of my strawberry floating time and money.
